chrismada9 1,948
It hurts to see him play this good for a different club! Dont know if he wants it though..He will NOT want to come back to us as a second striker, not when he's in the form he's currently in.Hopefully, if Torres were to leave, and Eto'o ended his 1-year deal with us, Lukaku would be first choice followed by Demba Ba and possibly a younger utility striker! Amblève. 4,995
Lukaku has weaknesses, I think we all know that, but his ability to simply score goals one way or another is game-changing. What a beast in the making.

However, there is also a thing of overrating him as well.Do not mistake one good game for 'form'. Form is putting in a string of good performances and goals, which he hasn't really done since earlier in the season. Inconsistency will always be a part of such a young players game; so a 20 year old striker would be delighted as 2nd choice at a club that plays Champions League football, 60+ games a year and fights for titles on every front (and not just for 4th).For example, if Lukaku is sold, would he be bought as a main striker for one of the top 5-10 teams in the world? I severely doubt they'll want to rely on someone so young and inexperienced in the truly big games (CL). Term-X 7,891
My worry is that by signing Costa [insert other big name striker] is that.. when they lose form, they make the team anyway! (until they do or don't regain form) due to the fee paid and the fact you can't have a 200k a week player on the bench. So even IF Lukaku was competing with 'said striker' he still wouldn't have a chance. SinineUltra, laura90 and Fulham Broadway
Fulham Broadway 17,313
If Everton want him, or he doesnt want to come back and fancies potential European football with them -we should slap on a £40m price tag. Mohammed Seif

The same with the likes of Morata and Jese at Madrid but they still insists on fighting for their places and now they are being rewarded for it. Lukaku won't do the same so he will be sold and we will rely massively on our new ST
Vybz Kartel 1,613
If he can not back himself to dislodge Torres this season whats to say he will back himself up to dislodge a Costa or Mandukic if we do sign one next season? His good but his mentality might seems lacking

robsblubot 3,595
Great performance by lukaku.I can what ppl say about his first touch and overall technique not being at the level we might want it to be, specially when he drops back. However, when he's in attacking positions his first touch doesn't slow him down... Really strange one. Great first touch for the shot that originated the first goal. Even better when dribbling for second.Very interesting player esp in the PL

Reminds me of the people describing KDB as the next Messi incoming lol. some people should relax, we arent talking about Fifa here, its real life football and Lukaku has too many flaws to play first striker here. Of course he is better than Torres, but who isnt? thats not the parameter. And Ba cant even get past Torres, dont even need to talk about him.If our striker line-up will be Lukaku, Ba + young striker, we shouldnt even go in to the season. or be happy with 3rd-4th place, early CL exit and maybe the cup titles. darrus, duo11bluecl and The Chels

BlueLyon 9,359
Sometimes you need to sit on bench and wait for your chances. Same with Lukaku. He isnt world class striker, not mentaly or technicaly ready to lead team with expectations by Mou (winning PL and CL next year). He MUST get a chance, but buying Costa and having Lukaku on bench is useless for Lukaku. He wants to play regulary, he will get maybe 15 games if we do get Costa. Buying Rooney was vital from that aspect last summer. He would be able to play next to Lukaku and is old enough to make way for Lukaku eventualy. Costa is top striker and just 25 and if we pay 40mio for him and things work out, he will be our starter for next 5 years at least. No point of having Lukaku then. If we get Costa, Lukaku will leave. Unless we play two striker formation, but that wont happen anyway.Either we do: 1.) Lukaku main striker next year 2.) buy experienced, top striker, aged 29+ who will play only for two years max and then give place to Lukaku 3.) buy top striker ala Costa who is 25 and will play here for next 5 years and we sell Lukaku. duo11bluecl
LAB 1,030
The thing with Lukaku is that, yes, he needs to improve as a striker and his mentality because i can't see him doing well in games like the upcoming PSG, but we forget that he is 20 years old and that our current team and project includes already young talents who we expect to improve (Oscar, Salah etc.). That being said i think he must be given a chance to improve within this team of players we have, because as Mourinho have put it we are in "building process for the future" mode currently. Now, do we need to sign a top striker name like Costa this summer also? Probably yes, but Lukaku won't accept to not be the protagonist. Well, i think that's his mistake. I really can't see him blossoming outside PL, at least for the early years of his career, and CFC are definitely planing to be the greatest force domestically to the very least.
