Oriol Romeu

Its quite disturbing that Jose thinks a young and talented midfielder is not a better option over a guy who has no kneecaps, more fragile then damaged glass and makes Torres look like a world class player in every aspect.

I'm sorry Oriol, you've been prevented from showing us what you can do for the team by a man who clearly is is on a nostalgia overdose and is overwhelmed with sappiness for two over the hill players who should no where near be considered first team starters, one for being 35 and decaying in fitness and pace and another who would be more useful as a medical experiment in a laboratory then playing on a football pitch.

Oriol Romeu is a happy man again. It's a feeling that he hasn’t experienced for some eight months now. In December, during a Premier League game against Sunderland, he broke the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. This injury meant that he missed out on Chelsea's trip to Japan for the Club World Cup, just when he was proving to be a key member of Rafa Benítez's team.

Three weeks ago he travelled to London to start training in an attempt to get into shape before starting his work with Chelsea, under the orders of Jose Mourinho. But he already knew that he would find things tricky with the Blues: "Mourinho told me that both Michael (Essien) and Frank (Lampard) were ahead of me, and that I would need to share my playing time with them. He insisted that after an injury and at the age of 21 it's important to play a lot of games. 'It'll be difficult and it would be better to be with a team that can guarantee you more playing time', he told me".

"I'm grateful to Mourinho for letting me come to Valencia, which is where I wanted to play. When the session came to an end I went to say goodbye and say thanks, because there were teams that were making better offers to Chelsea and they said they understood my position", Romeu explained.

Not the way I see it.

I feel like he need to freshen up and get a good loan.

A very harsh injury like he got can ruin a player career.

So if he can somewhere where he won't have pressure like that of Chelsea it should do good for him.

Remember Romeu is thought to be long term. Essien is short term. In a season or two Essien can leave and Romeu come in. Will be great!

Of course it would work if Essien was any decent still. Every time I see him he gives shit performances (he was absolutely woeful in the Copa Del Ray final).

The thing is Essien is in a stage of his career where he can just fill in and play the games needed, Romeu needs games to avoid stagnating, the damage is already done as far as Essien is concerned.

I know juts I feel very frustrated knowning that since Romeu picked up that injury he has fallen behind Essien in the pecking order :(

Romeu will get the chance to start more games for Valencia than he would've for Chelsea, which any sensible person would think was important for a player coming back from a fairly serious injury at a point in his career where he needs as many minutes as possible.

Let's not pretend that Lamps or Essien will be first choice - it's probably be Ramires and De Rossi. You have an agenda that is anti-Mourinho and increasingly anti-Chelsea. Grow the fuck up.

Could we not have just loaned out Essien and used Romeu instead?

Romeu needs to play every game. Won't happen.

Essien offers RB and CDM protection as a secondary option.

Essien is hardly world-class these days, which means for game-time for MvG, which was one of the things he was promised when he signed for us.
