They just won an important trophy against Man City. I'd say they deserve it. In the end despite all the laughter they have had a much better season than us.

Would hate to have him as a captain. He is a very good player, but the passion mostly consists of crying to the ref and throwing his hands up the air looking upset, when his teammates fuck up.

well, I never said I wanted him on our side

lol

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/conference-league-qualification-for-next-season-confirmed

Quote

It will be the first time we have competed in the competition that was initially contested in the 2021/22 season.

Qualification for the Conference League marks our return to European football after a one-year absence and means next season will be our 32nd European campaign in club history.

The Blues will enter the tournament at the play-off round stage, where victory over a two-legged tie would secure a place in the league stage. The play-off round fixtures will take place on 22 and 29 August this year and we will find out our opponents on 5 August when the draw is made.

Should Chelsea go all the way and reach the final, it will be held in Poland’s Stadion Wroclaw, on 28 May 2025.

God the club sounds excited ffs

So can you ACTUALLY ask to drop out of the Conference League or is that just some rubbish people made up? Is there a verified rule stating that you can decline?

If not we should be playing a full youth team in that competition.

Conference league is against the likes of Agrotikos Asteras, Famalicao, Krasnodarsk.
If we escape the FFP strictures by abstaining we should do that.

It's like they couldn't even contain the excitement, immediately after losing the Europa League spot, fucking morons.

Disagree. They’ve had a more successful season than us thanks to a trophy on the very last day but they absolutely haven’t had a better season than us in totality. Both clubs had horrendous injury lists that they can point to but the expectations vs where each club ended up are much different.

They were coming off a 3rd place finish, had a coach well settled in, and a pretty settled squad and then proceeded to play turgid football all season, crash out of the UCL, and finish 8th with a negative goal difference. They were expected to compete with Arse & Liverpool for 2nd/3rd.

We have played much better football than they have over the course of the season.

City were a pain in the eye for 90 minutes.
Their goal was an Onana gift.
United too only twice managed to attack (1 goal each time !).
It was a despicable affair and City did n't want to win.
De Bruyne below par - substituted, Haaland was a lamppost.

Took a look what kind of teams payed visit in the ECL qualifications stage last year, some of my favourites:

FC Balkani, Zalgiris, TNS, Astana, Yerevan, Birkirkara, Santa Coloma, FC Europa, just to mention the finest.. Gonna be interesting, let's try to get the best of it.

Confrence League is a horrid meatgrinder with massive long trips often played on shit pitches in shit weather

so what. we have a big enough squad to play it without big issues.

also, by what date we have to make the decision to play it or not?

For Clownlake, anything prior to their takeover is irrelevant.

For them, any improvement from here on out is a massive win.

Tbf, a young squad like this needs more games like the conference league to build their experience before challenging in bigger tournaments.

Sigh, this new regime has really lowered our expectations as fans.

Genuinely worried that Arsenal might end up winning the league next year.

I don't know if arsenal have the ability to fight for the title for the third year in a row

even liverpool couldn't fight for three years in a row. the club might break down a bit
