#MUFC position will not change even if Rooney hands in a formal transfer request or goes public with his desire to leave. (Guardian) #CFC

#MUFC have taken the top-level decision that Wayne Rooney will not be sold to Chelsea no matter how much money is offered. (Guardian) #CFC

Why is everyone taking what the guardian say as bible? They are just as unreliable as all the other rubbish newspapers.

why are the guardian unreliable though? thought that was for dailyfail or mirror

or do we only believe what we want to hear

I think it's pretty obvious that United are using this journo as their mouthpiece. He didn't just make this story up off the top of his head. Someone's obviously feeding him this.

Expect Rooney to come out now and say he never thought of leaving and that he wants to retire a United player.

Because not for sale "at any price" is bullshit. Do you think £60m theyd reject, of course not. IF Rooney goes public, Utd will not be as blunt as that article makes out. What the Guardian have reported is news we read week or 2 ago. It's PR and everyone now needs Rooney to speak up, or make his move. If he speaks up wanting to stay we move on, if he speaks up or hands in a TR, we continue the chase.

im not optimistic about us signing rooney, but that article on guardian is no news - there are no quotes at all and moyes has repeatedly said that rooney is not for sale. but that doesnt mean he wont be sold.

as i posted, the same situation was with torres http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/torres-is-not-for-sale and we know what happened

Manchester United is not Liverlol

theres a reason why theyve been so successful over the years, its obvious selling rooney to us is handing over the title

Chelsea's £50m signing of Fernando Torres from Liverpool was widely seen throughout the game as a shift in dynamic between the two clubs. United are adamant they will not put themselves in the same position.
