i never said that we have won the double because of luck , what i was trying to highlight was how the very simple mission of winning the epl , without any real competition .... turned into this very tough contest of a great squad trying to win more points than a very average squad who took a very long time to learn how to play without ronaldo and tevez ..

i was very proud and happy when we won the league , one of my friends said that he had never seen me that happy before .... but still i was far from satisfied ....

again my point is with a better manager we would have won the league last season six weeks earlier and we would have been top of the league this season by now

If Man Utd had kept just ONE of the TWO SUPERSTAR GOALSCORERS they let go then they would have won the league easily. What is so hard to understand about that?

Would Carlo be such a great manager if Ronaldo stayed at Man u?

No he wouldn't . Even though he wouldn't be any worse or better than he is now,I bet every fickle fan would be calling for his head. They wouldn't have 'the double' to go on about.

Right now only us realists can see beyond a trophy that was won last year and judge him on his talent or rather lack of .

The sole reason Ancelotti was hired was for the Champions League. The sooner we win that, the sooner the board can find an excellent long-term manager with his new, fresh, squad.

Has someone taken over your I.D.:) This isn't you speaking here. I agree though, he got the job mainly based on winning the CL twice. Rather than only 1 scudetto in 10 years.

Haha no, still me!

I will back Carlo, give him support as a fan for as long as he's here. But I believe he's not the right man to lead the next generation/age of Chelsea players. That is up for a new manager to take on.

I'd bring Grant back. He nearly won us the Champions league, league and mickey mouse cup. He didn't tell Terry to hit the post or the players to play rubbish in the mickey mouse cup final.

Steve Clarke brought us to that Champions League final.

Wouldn't hiring a master tactician make more sense if that was the case?

Not when we're discussing skill. Unless we're going to accept flukes like Liverpool in 2005.

Perhaps. But we all know of Abramovich's obsession..

Unfortunately, while I could argue Abramovich's obsession with the CL could be a story fabricated by the media it seems everyone at the club is obsessed with it. From the Football Board and the old players (understandably) to even new signings (Torres). Being obsessed with a cup competition will only hurt the club in the long run.

Carlo is not here for the long run. If We don't win champs league, bye bye Carlo. Simple.

We need a long term manager and He just isn't it. I am grateful for what He done last year but We were Damn Lucky to win both titles. There is an element of luck in competitions but He did ride it! Also He has no balls. He won't say no to Roman, He won't drop our stars if they Brent pulling their weight. At least Jose did, and I really admire him for that.

I'm fed up with having a new manager every 5 mins though to be honest.

I'd give much of the credit to Steve Clarke. It just goes to show wha a good assistant coach can offer.

Very true! Clarke was brilliant working alonside Mourinho! I think that's what he's good at... working alongside personnel that are renowned to be world class. I'm sure he could work well with Dalglish!

Carlo was hired I believe because of his credentials as both a player and a manger. He secured the Champions League trophy with AC Milan twice and what I think a lot of people seem to forget is that he secured The Double in his first season with us, a magnificent achievement. Sacking Carlo is not the answer, however Roman will ultimately have the final say. He’s obviously still got faith in Carlo, otherwise he would have sacked him after losing to Arsenal in December. Sacking him now would cause a great disharmony not only amongst the players but the whole of the club. I do think that some of the players need to buck their ideas up and actually show that they still want to play for us.

Who knows what the future will bring, all I say is to wait until the end of the season before we make any rash decisions which we might later regret.

I followed the Liverpool forums for a few months and the tone about Carlo reminds me a lot of the tone there regarding Roy Hodgson minus the screaming lunatics. The majority seemed to think Roy should have never been given the job, he wasn't a long-term solution, wasn't tactically smart, didn't want to promote youth, played players who shouldn't be playing, etc.

I personally think Carlo is head and shoulders above Roy but it seems reading the posts there's some underlying angst here.

While I'm not part of the Kenny love-fest that's invaded the PL, it does seem he has given them the kick in the pants they needed. Do you think a new manager is the key? New players? It seems to be a crossroad time for Chelsea. I read the thread about will we finish Top 4 or not and that seems so odd to me. Maybe that's the problem but I've always automatically assumed Chelsea was a Top 4 team. It would be weird to see them out of it. Maybe that's the problem - the club, manager, and/or players assuming Top 4 was a given.

The rambling is done.
