Edinson Cavani

People want Cavani, because he is a big name, but when it comes to other strikers they just cant lead the line. F**k logic. I would love Napoli here, but if we don't sign him , I am not gonna be that dissapointed. Yeah, sure I would be unhappy if he goes to Madrid or City, but in the end, they sign one striker, we another, so yeah...

No because he is the best top 5 strikers in the world available atm and another opportunity won't come any time soon. The other one(Lewandowski) doesn't want to come here and another one(Falcao) already left. Agreed, they sign the best strikers available, why we make do with their scraps like Higuain, Dzeko, Jovetic, Gomez or whoever is left...

And you can't see why we are disappointed....

Tancredi Palmeri just tweeted - "Chelsea have made aware Napoli that they WON'T raise their bid anymore".

How would you know? Didn't he block you?

Are people still posting what Palmeri tweets? In case you haven't noticed, everything he says is utter BS.

Not actually that bothered, let him go where he wants where the money is highest.

Nothing against Cavani, nothing at all. He can't do anything here - the Napoli president is simply a greedy, greedy bastard. Fair play though, shows a bit of back-bone. And why should Napoli sell? They've truly re-established themselves in Italy for the first time in 15 years, and Cavani is a massive part of that.

Not signing him means we either invest a bit of faith in the £75 million-worth of strikers we currently have at the club - Torres, Lukaku, and Ba - or we revise our targets and bring in someone to do a decent job for a third of Cavani's price. And if Lukaku can score 17 goals for West Bromwich Albion in a rotation role, imagine what he can do for us - I'm very excited for him to be given a real chance at Chelsea.

The way we operate is almost ignoring the strikers anyway. Ba and Torres struggle because our midfield is our real attacking outlet - Mata, Hazard, Lampard and Oscar will get you 60 goals a season between them, easily. That is, in most seasons, 45-55% of our goals tally. Why spend £50 million + on another striker who probably will struggle, just like Torres, to score 20 goals a season for this team? Everyone goes on about Drogba, but he only had two seasons where he scored more than 16 goals for this club. Strikers typically struggle in Mourinho teams, as well.

Bullet dodged? Possibly.

You took the wrong angle.

Every things you've said is why we should try to have Cavani.

As he's forward that is used and good to set-up other players in good position, has amazing work-rate, good holding play and good header. He's the most complete forward, exactly why we should try to have him as he adds to the team he plays much more than goals.

If that's your criteria Rooney would be a better candidate.

Yep, but I can't see United selling him to us. From almost every angle he'd be my preferred option IF he wants it. If he's prepared to work his bollocks off to prove everyone wrong, he can become the best striker in football.
