Ok you know things are going insane if a Chelsea forum has a 'love Kalou' clique and a 'hate Kalou' clique!

But seriously the problem is that some people are more than willing to lambaste on Kalou's mistake and yet totally ignore anything good he does. The hat trick against Stoke is a perfect example. Instead of congratulating him some people immediately act like it doesn't count because they were all 'tap ins'. What about performances against Spurs in the 2007 FA Cup, or the first leg in the 2008 Champions league final against Liverpool, they are never acknowledged by some yet unfairly always bring up performances like the one against Bolton all the time as though they have some sort of agenda against the poor guy. Yet they will gladly drool over Kakuta and demand that he replaces Kalou on a full-time bases, despite the fact he has yet top prove himself in top flight football.

Even though I have criticized Kalou in the past I will always give him praise when he performances well. The fact that he had a better goal and assist rate to Joe Cole yet some were always sucking up to Cole and lambasting against Kalou says it all.

This is getting pathetic from both sides.

Those who are saying that Kalou has been great and that anyone who slags him off and would rather Kakuta play is a band wagoner are just thick and those who are saying that Kalou is shite and doesn't deserve much credit for most of the goals that he's scored are also thick.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how much you hate him or how much you think he's a piece of shit, if he sticks the ball in the back of the onion sack, then a goal is a goal. But there is no way people should receive any stick for giving Kalou criticism. Fuck, anyone can dish out as much criticism to any of the players that they want to, so just respect other peoples' opinions and stop arguing!

I agree with bluelion, people don't like certain opinions on this forum and it messes everything up. I think this forum has got worse as the years have rolled on, we have lost people who had knowledge about the club. We have too many people here who don't know much about who we are as a football club. Not many people here know anything about tactics or strategies we might use against different opponents. Cfcnet is a much better forum than our one and they have genuine Chelsea fans who understand out team. Look at the people who have fucked off in past season's lampards bitch, mike cfc, elliott, even ollie is not here that much. These are people who understand chelsea fc, not these people who post from bloody Croatia who probably have never been to a Chelsea match before.

Bit harsh there. Hard not to feel a little insulted by that.

Back on topic, at the end of the day, Kalou is a CFC player, and regardless of whether you love him or hate him, you've got to respect that fact. I'm not his biggest fan, and he has miles to go before he can command a regular first team starter's role, but when he does well, regardless of whether he scores a tap-in or a 30 yard screamer, he should be applauded and given credit to. I don't see people saying "Oh, it's just a tap-in" when Drogba or Lampard gets one. At the same time, let's not delude ourselves into thinking he's a super player, because he is not. He's a very useful player who does what is asked of him, and that is to run at defenders in the last few minutes of a game and try and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. Nothing more, nothing less. He keeps his head down and gets on with his job without moaning about, and I hugely respect him for that. And most of all, keep the personal attacks against other members as well as players out of your poss please. It's just sheer nonsense and unworthy of what I'm assuming are matured and responsible individuals who congregate on this forum to talk about the club they all love.

great to know that members have to chose a side whether a kalou fan or a kalou hater .

well i am starting a third one that says we love chelsea very much so we are gonnna support all our players including kalou as long as he is a chelsea player although we think there are few players out there that will do a better job than him and we would love to see them playing for our team e.g. kakuta

i am curious if anyone would like to join me as everyone here seems to have made their minds to be one of the other sides so the first member that will join my side will get to name it .

He was one of our worst players on the pitch with only Ashley Cole and JT being worse,he got a goal that Sturridge created and was literally a waste of space for the rest of the match.

He is a STRIKER, his job is to score goals and ironically neither Drogba nor Malouda, Lampard, Sturridge or anybody else could score - but Kalou. If Drogba scored that goal, everybody would've gone crazy.

Congratulations for completely missing the point.

And no,no-one would have gone crazy if Drogba scored a goal as simple as that.

Kalou is scoring goals, what do you want more from a striker? Most of you are just looking for a player to criticize.

And to that second thing... hm you're totally wrong. Remember Drogba's shitty goals against West Brom... everybody was masturbating at them. I was the only one saying, they were "lucky"... and look what came out:

killamanjaro: "...he was at the good place at the good time, just like a great striker..."

Corlett: "How were they lucky."

BlueLion: "...you have to congratulate Didier for working himself into the positions to take the chances in the first place..."

So Kalou is shit and is just lucky to score those "easy tap-in goals", but when something similar happens to Drogba "we have to congratulate him for getting in to the positions, just like a great striker"?

Sorry but this is ridiculous. Drogba is a fantastic striker and I admire him, but EVERY striker who scores goals - volleys from 30m or "easy tap-ins" - deserves praise for scoring that goal.

Kalou is scoring goals, what do you want more from a striker?

Being able to shoot.

Being good at shooting.

Being consistently good at shooting.

Being able to score a 1-1

Knowing what to do with the ball at his feet.

Hell why do I even bother, what kind of an argument is that,he was completely and utterly shit in that match and all you gotta say is that he's a striker?! When was being a football player only about scoring tap ins?!You could have easily given him credit for getting into positions instead of praising his ability to "get goals".

Most of you are just looking for a player to criticize.

Why in the name of Zola would we be doing that?

It's not like we're losing games underperforming, underscoring or anything allong those lines. Then why would we be "looking for a player to criticize"?

Kalou has been the most frustrating Chelsea player in those last few years and it's not us baddies trying to blame someone.

I'd argue it takes more balls talking about a player's faults when he's (allegedly)on form than when he's not performing to his abilities.

So Gerd Müller was a crap striker cause he had no technique? Or Miroslav Klose or Luca Toni or Filipo Inzaghi... I could go on like this forever. People expect Kalou to be a player like Drogba - but they have to accept he's the complete opposite. He's got no technique, twice the pace and probably same goal scoring abilites as a 25-year-old Drogba. Stop hatin' and stop comparing Kalou to other strikers that are the complete opposite of him.

As I said, his job is not to dictate a game, to drop deep and collect balls, to create chances from the wing. But to get the ball, run at goal with his pace and finish it. He's a goal poacher, a penalty box striker.

Something like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - remember when he was at his prime 2000 or 2001... he was 28 at that time. Kalou is 25 right now.

perhaps time to close this thread ,,,everyone seems to have their say ,,now just becoming repetitive

Agreed. Some of us like him, some of us particularly dont but i dont really feel theres need to have such an arguement over one player. The most important thing is that Chelsea are winning, and i dont care if people slate Kalou one week and then he scores a hat-trick, or people praise him and he has a bad game; it works both ways. I'm a great supporter of Kalou, but i just feel that theres no need for a full blown arguement about him ffs.

I've also agreed in the past that people rip into him and then he'll do something spectacular the week later, but again, most important thing, Chelsea winning. Its nice to see a player proving us wrong. I did it in the summer before last season, i wanted Chelsea to sell malouda, because in my opinion, he was playing like a pile of crap. He was, but look at him now :)
