Chelsea 3-2 Newcastle

How do big clubs in this football world fall from grace ?
Usually it is for one-two years, they lose a couple of places.
Once in fifteen-twenty years they lose more than a couple of places, end up below midtable position but again this is temporary - big clubs fix things, that's why they are called big clubs.
Then there are the paysants' teams. Sometimes they get lucky, win trophies, but no budget so they return to where they were.

When some legend players come of age and depart is one reason and for the poor guys because they sell out.

With Chelsea (and also United) what is the underlying reason ? We seem to bounce between Scylla and Charybdis three years now even though we spend billions.

Poor coaching moves all in quick succession and mostly unsuccessful transfers are the obvious culprits here.  But couple that with what appears to be acceptance that these results are ok because there's a much bigger 'plan' in place and you have a real problem.

They are way above what we are, we need to be looking at the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth, Wolves and WHU as the teams we are on par with

This is far we have fallen unfortunately

We lost Rudiger, Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho in 2-3 transfer windows and became mid-table

The simple fact is: we never replaced any of their qualities.    It was about spending big on "potential", go and get Lavia, Enzo, Caicedo for 300 million....yet none of them get anywhere near the midfield we had.

Petro

Gusto Silva(Chalobah) Disasi Cucu

 Caicedo Enzo

Palmer Mudryk Sterling

     Jackson

Basically only Chalo/Silva, Gilchrist, Madueke (and Casadei if we want to call him that) as our senior substitutes...

It really depends on who is fit , but I think we will start with:

Petrovic

Gusto-Disasi-Silva-Chalobah-Cucu

Caicedo-Enzo

Palmer-Jackson-Sterling

and I don’t really like it. The biggest reason I can’t go all in on Poch out. How can we be consistent when there aren’t more than 6 players who can play 5 games in a row? Not even talking about fit substitutes…
