Hashishi 148
The problem is there are no world class managers availible atm. If carlo Ancelotti was free tomorrow I would be ecstatic but it's a shame that the most appealing option is Mou 3.0. I don't want Poch or Enrique anywhere near this club. They are specialists in failure and would've done something at Spurs/PSG and Barca/Spain if they were any good. I don't want negative football like Conte and Mourinho. I'm seriously afraid our best option is sticking with Potter at least till summer.
Pizy 18,953
I’d have taken Poch a couple of years ago without much question. But I wonder how easy he’ll find it to jump back into the PL after a long break from management. Especially into the toughest job in England pretty much. Enrique would be pretty intriguing but questions over how comfortable he’d be outside of Spanish football again are there. I can absolutely picture Mourinho lobbying hard behind the scenes to come back. We’ve now got a squad full of what you would’ve traditionally classified as “Mourinho players” in a bunch of positions that he’d probably love to work with. But we’d be absolutely insane to welcome that circus again and risk him imploding once more. Why can’t we just bring Tuchel back, damnit?! 😭😭😭

It’s been a disaster with 2 of our last 3 managers in Frank and now Potter. I think Zidane’s managerial style of standing like a statue and not saying a thing for entire matches would be a disaster here. We need a world class COACH with these players. Sadly there isn’t one out of work currently other than the one we sacked this season. Tuchel himself was in a disastrous spiral as shown by multiple people here he is not the answer either here are 5 cold hard #facts 1 Without Thiago we are pretty well fucked at CB, certainly not, Badi looks to be a good prospect, and HOPEFULLY Fofana can fully recover, but we are fucked there atm 2. Without Kante, and yes, even with Enzo, we are well fucked at DMF/CMF 3. We have not had (hopefully Mudryk can eventually become one) a great winger since prime Eden 4. we are super fucked when either or (even worse) both Reece and/or Chilly are out at fullback, Malo Gisto had best come good, and Chilwell stay healthy as CuCu is SHIT, and Azpi, at this point, makes CuCu look like prime Cafu 5. We are FUCKED beyond all belief at CF, have been since the Diego Costa salad days
Mhsc 1,098
Some strong negativity around here about Poch but I would take him over Potter, he at least would get us playing an aggressive / effective press which atm is sorely lacking, although I'd prefer Luis Enrique - think he'd be a great manager for a player like Enzo. Think Zidane would 1. not come and 2. be a big gamble, despite his record. lucio

The "building" have sense in a club that is in third division and going to the top. When club is already top, the "build" is pretty much about mentality and identity to continue winning, not to start winning. We are not quite the Newcastle or early City case. Maybe somewhat close to Pool, but still starting from bit different point. The Arsenal comparisons, don't even get me started, that's insulting. The closest we were to "building" at this level as I see it we were with Mourinho and Tuchel. Elite winners, that identify with the club, coming to conquer even more. What was Potter with his impressive 31% win rate in mid-table club supposed to do in a club that had just won everything I still don't know. You don't send a fella to Real or PSG to tech those guys how to pass. Such clubs need leader inspire to thrive, not to learn the basics. You have coaching staff for this, preferably of top specialists. Meanwhile that whole spiel sounds like Boehly took the CL winning club and now is trying to repeat the Leicester's from zero to hero story with it. But we are far from zero, I'd dare to say. Would be ridiculous to get some travelling salesmen or long-time Tottenham manager to build the Chelsea identity - that smells of what PSG is doing. A lot of people said it already, but seriously, given who is available, sacking Tuchel was not shooting the club in the foot, it was cutting the legs away on waist-level. lucio

Building means to implement a playing style, a system that can last longer than just 3 years before it needs to be changed, having the same manager for more than 6 years. Continuity is key to success in modern football. Hire and fire on the other hand turned out to be outdated. And yes, there was a slow but steady decline in the last few years, we literally have become Wengers Arsenal. When was the last time we were really challenging for the title over the season? We transformed from a club that is challenging for the title every year to challenging for Top4 every year, even with Tuchel. We became a P4 team. Managers like Mou or Conte just cant build bc after 2-3 years, they completely lose the dressing room with their training methods and approach. Same goes for Tuchel, who is also a short term manager wherever he has been. And it was clear at the end of last season and start of this season that he has clearly lost the dressing room again. What a club needs in modern football is stability, constant changes give u setbacks all the time preventing the club to reach for the highest goals. That is why I dont want a caretaker, if Potter is replaced, but someone who can build a legacy. He only had the greatest front 3 in modern day footballing history though who scored something like 300 goals in 3 seasons between then. And even then, he left after the third season for whatever reasons when performances were very very bad. Plus lets not forget his transfer record was abysmal at Barcelona, he is credited with signing the likes of Turan, Alcacer, Andre Gomes, Dennis Suarez, Jeremy Mathieu, Aleix Vidal, Lucas Digne. Really, Luis Suarez and Rakitic were really the only successful buys he made. His Spain team were also one of the most boring sides I’ve seen in forever. One game against Costa Rica who were awful wont change that. Personally would let Atletico Madrid appoint him as is heavily being speculated. I know Potter is out of his depth but Enrique isnt the answer. Pochettino is more likely to fit the clubs strategy and I would expect him to do better here than the likes of Enrique or Zidane but still have doubts over how successful we would be with him. cfccrost 23
Let Mou come back for the 3rd time. Our game plan can be sit in front of Kepa and request Enzo to find Mudryk with his passes. With only that gameplan im assure will have more wins than with this fraud
