Special Juan 28,806
Wait until your all crying when he doesn't get signing you are craving for, we lose three games and he isn't playing total football...seen it all before and the SD's are working him from the top, your all getting drawn in and mugged off. These SD's are killing this club, they will survive before any manager and and success at this club Fernando and DDA
ZAPHOD2319 4,962
Maresca and Rosenior had the title Head Coach. Xabi will be Manager. I hope the owners are taking a step back from running all the football aspects. mkh, Fulham Broadway and Fernando

Pizy 19,300
I have no doubts about Alonso’s ability to coach and win football matches. Even looking at his Madrid stint he didn’t “fail” on the actual pitch. He was run out of town by the entitled, pampered babies with monster egos like Vini from what I’ve read. His record there wasn’t bad at all. What I do have big skepticism about is whether these directors and owners will do what’s necessary in the transfer window. Both ins and outs. Will they allow Alonso to get rid of some of these shit players that the directors were obsessed with us signing just last summer? That’ll be the true test to show us whether they’ve truly changed or just issuing their usual PR. Trim the fat in the squad and give him 3-4 HAND PICKED signings that HE recommends. Fulham Broadway 17,773
Alonso is not going to turn down earning in three months what most wont earn in a lifetime Just hope its not a Blueco PR stunt to settle agents, players, fans, and generally stifle unrest... Alonso is already well off financially, so that comparison doesn’t really make sense. In any case, he’s coached Real Madrid and won the Bundesliga - it’s a completely different level compared to Maresca or Rosenior. There’s no real comparison there. That said, none of this is enough if the higher hierarchy doesn’t change, and that’s the hardest part of all. It’s understandable to accept this kind of appointment, unlike the LR situation. We’ll see what happens, but that doesn’t mean people stop wanting these owners out of the club.
Pizy 19,300
Rumors starting to circulate that Liverpool ARE indeed soon going to be sacking Slot but that Xabi Alonso wasn’t their ideal successor because they want football similar to what Klopp played. So that’s almost certainly where Iraola goes. High intensity, high pressing Kloppball. So in the end I think both clubs will get their perfect fit of a manager. Blue Armour 4,737
Dont know if Alonso is a perfect fit for Chelsea, but he does come with a higher pedigree than Rosenior or Callum. Ex-Liverpool, but he hasn't bad-mouthed the club like a certain Benitez. Ultimately everything hinges on how much Eghbali, Joe Shields and their cronies have learned from this freak show of a season. As others have pointed out, if their interference in the starting lineups and transfers continue, it will be another disappointing conclusion. The difference with a Fabregas appointment would have meant that, like Lampard, he would have had the Stamford Bridge crowd fully behind him even in shitty situations, because of his legacy as an ex-player. We'll see if Alonso and the boys get that level of support. Edited 1 hour ago by Blue Armour

Rich people usually want more and more, Trump, Musk etc so that comparison is valid. Best of luck to him. I guess I'm sat in the minority of fans who didn't want Alonso. I'd rather Iraola. All incidental if Blueco want another puppet...

Xabi Alonso was still one of the most attractive managers available outside the elite already in top jobs, and it was only a matter of time before he picked up another major role anyway - that’s not really the point here. He won the league with Leverkusen, broke Bayern’s long-standing dominance in Germany, and has been at Real Madrid. There’s simply no comparison to be made. This is exactly the kind of manager with the stature and mentality for clubs at this level.
