So has Di Matteo + Benitez did that 10 years ago. Besides, appointing an interim during this stage of the season is not something meant to help us improve results. It’s meant to improve the mood around the team and the fans too. Lampard is clearly a better option than Rafael Benitez, from that perspective. Benitez would’ve made the whole club look like a joke even more than we do now.

And that “we have the chance at winning the UCL” narative is naive at best.

LOL

we have a good squad and almost fit

our best players will play like kanté

ofc we have a chance as others teams have

I see ESPN are bringing up Carlo being a possibility if he leaves Madrid this summer. But…..why would he voluntarily leave Madrid if they all love him and he constantly talks about how much he loves it there? Plus, both Carlo himself and a bunch of Brazilian players have been openly flirting with one another about the Brazil national team job which makes perfect sense for him.

I just don’t see him wanting to go through the intensity of the PL again at his age and after that Everton spell he had.

Because he's objectively better than Frank lampard. He's won a European trophy as an interim at Chelsea before. Who cares about fan outrage , we'd be managed by Jose still if we listened to the SB crowd

Mate you are the worse plastic/ armchair fan I've ever had the misfortune to read your a disgrace . I could imagine you saying that in a pub full of Chelsea fans you would get laughed at before being asked probably not politely to leave.

I wouldn't be surprised if Boehly and co   decide to bring back Conte or Ancelotti even Jose Mourinho .

Ancelotti is off to Brazil they say.

Of course, we have a world class team on paper. But we cannot put the ball in the back of the net. We just cannot score, that’s a fact and it won’t change without a striker. We won’t have a striker in the UCL. Not even Aubameyang.

We do have a tiny chance, but it is not a realistic scenario. At least not realistic enough to justify any kind of rush in appointing a permanent manager.

Wonder who they'd brought it if he was still a manager...hopefully they get the next appointment right but have many doubts they know what they're doing and simply picking names out a hat.

Our changes against Real..who knows. It'd not like we're scoring for fun! Or scoring at all. Maybe that could've changed but probably not in the space of 4 or 5 days...

lol we won with havertz and werner

even 2 weeks ago before international break Real had a lot of problems

and we beat them 2 years ago and go to extra time last year after making mystakes in the first leg that cost us

its hard ofc but its not impossible

we can not think in that way

maybe hire a new coach can give us a psycological boost

lets wait and see

but I don't like people say that we don't have chances to win... we won it 2 years ago

I can not accept this kind of mentality and kind of standards

I agree , it's not in Chelsea's nature to just throw the champions league. Our two wins came at unlikely times. I don't think Frank is the ideal tactical fit to make it happen again but maybe... Imagine him knocking out tuchel.

My hope is that we finally have kanté and our squad is almost fit

You may have a point, but I guess the fans are determining and I don't think it's a bad thing. We are borderline circus at the moment already and each another decision of the board sparks the mix of laughter and tears, so with Benitez who is sort of literal meme here, I guess we'd literally explode or raid the offices 😂

The players and the staff should do everything that they can to win the UCL. But we are not players nor members or the staff. We can only analyze and see for ourselves that the odds are not in our favour. Specially not against Real Madrid, who always manages to find a way in Europe, and then against City or Bayern. Of course, odds were not in our favour in 2008, 2012 and 2021.

Yet we still managed to reach the final and to even win the competition twice. It is possible, but it's not realistic enough to base your whole strategy on it. Also, in 2008 Grant was our manager, then Di Matteo in 2012. Don't tell me they were tactical geniuses. It wasn't about that. We were only able to go (almost) all the way through thanks to the spirit of the team.

And if you ask me, Lampard is 10x more qualified than Benitez to bring up the spirits in this Chelsea team. So even from that regard, I still think he is a decent option. Plus, even if we signed a permanent manager right after Potter was sacked, let's say Enrique or Nagelsmann, there is no way they could've had such a great impact in only a few days time. Frank knows plenty of our players, he knows the club, the league. He doesn't need time to adapt.

For me, a new manager who can have a clean slate and a full pre-season with the squad is the best option. The only important thing is that we go for the right option. Whoever that is.

Is it necessary to make personal comments? I recall you saying lampard was a turd just yesterday. With that in mind is suggesting benitez is better so outrageous? If it was up to me I'd hire neither. Was just the first available name that came to my head

What part of my post was personal? Secondly no Chelsea fan wanted benitez here the first time,.never mind a second, the mere thought of having that fat twat back in the dug out is enough to make me sick.

"Just when I start to think your not as bad as I thought you do another post that blows my mind!!! "

I get that no one wanted him the first time. I understand nobody wanting him now too. however, he conducted himself well and got us 3rd and a European trophy so maybe deserves some more respect and not insults. I remember plenty of fans at the bridge thanking him after his last game.
