Vegetable 830
Quote - Chelsea to 'speak internally' about the situation of Graham Potter to confirm if they still want him or go with a different decision. Comedy. Where had they been for last 3 months? And the Artreta card… a lot of Potter fans use it, but if board is seriously thinking this way… Let's hope they are serious people. Well, we are trying now, and this is what it takes. Some rough times and growing pains. Are we tho? I know people like to see it this way, but we are switching personel and ideas non-stop, buying youngsters and actually playing youngsters is not the same (GP played youth when he was absolutely forced to) and the team seems way too clueless and depressed to play "beautiful football". Most of the fundamental change that people like and use to defend the current situation exist only in theory I'm afraid. Hell, I'd even not bash Potter on the wired shit he had pulled yesterday as it's at least a sign of him doing something, instead of hanging for dear life and saying it's the "vision". lucio 5,418
Probably going to end up costing us some ballers like kovacic and Felix. We are basically throwing the champions league by not sacking him. We need to assure the players of our future by not accepting mediocrity because it happens to be English

manpe 10,861
Can't believe what I'm witnessing with Chelsea this season. They hire a nobody on a long contract for big money and then when that nobody very predictably fails, they don't do anything about it because of the fat contract given to said nobody. Boehly and Eghbali are clowns and not the funny kind. Fucking idiots both of them. Atomiswave, Vegetable and lucio

Arsenal looked utterly shit for his first couple of years even accounting for the cup. Not only were the results poor he was getting compared to Tony Pulis because the football they were playing was so bad. All their metrics before this season were that of a midtable team or worse, for example they were 17th(!!) on big chances created as recently as last season. https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/big_chance_created?se=

A lot of their fanbase wanted him fired and he probably only kept his job on the back of the fa cup win. Blue Armour and Tomo
manpe 10,861
This Arteta talk is pissing me off, when Potter brought it up himself I was in disbelief. Look, just because you can bring ONE example, doesn't mean that exception will become the norm. Doesn't mean that every manager who's shit in the beginning will turn into gold. And as has been pointed out previously, statistically Arteta wasn't nearly as bad Potter's Chelsea have been. Plus he won a cup, winning something for a struggling club matters, no matter how big or small. He proved he could win early on, Potter is not going to do that. Also, having watched All for Nothing Arsenal, it was clear that Arteta has great motivational skills and is respected by the players. I would love to see how Potter tries to motivate his players, but looking at his pressers, probably it wouldn't be most inspiring. I'm not saying we should use it as an excuse to keep Potter, just that there was absolutely nothing to suggest that this was coming with him or Arsenal. The rewritting of the early part of his tenure is driving me nuts. Yes the cup win was nice for them in isolation, but would you want to see us employing Harry Redknapp, Alex McLeish, Grame Souness or Roberto Martinez? As they all won a domestic cup with much weaker teams.

He wasen't given the fund to build a team quickly, if he was given the fund he would have turned around Arsenal much quicker. With Potter with all the money we have spent, we have not seen any improvement.
coolhead23 1,147
Completely agree that it is surely annoying to relate to Arteta's story ... everyone goes through the motions and create's their own. What depends is the direction in which they moving which will allow the people on the top to make a call, for me Potter is not showing anything currently which gives me the hope that there will be a turn around in the near future. We're trying out bad strategy expecting change in fortunes.

He was hardly penny pinching, over 200m and two and a half years it took to even match Emery's league finish via two 8th place positions which was lower than Wenger even at his most washed up fell, all while playing eye bleeding football akin to Stoke City and despite such tactics they weren't even solid at the back either, that's how Emi Martinez got so much exposure so quickly to allow for a big money move. Up until this season he was by almost every metric a downgrade on Emery and even the 2011 onwards Wenger we were all laughing at, especially attacking wise. NikkiCFC 8,335
Conte and Rogers left with mutual agreement. That means no money or small compensation. They always say how Potter is nice guy so it would be really cuntish from him to demand full payoff. bigbluewillie
