Graham Potter Thread

Just the way he handled the Ziyech situation tells me he is not ready to handle big egos.

Granted, Ziyech's transfer getting screwed up was not his fault.

But if you were prepared to let him go out on loan, how does he come back straight into your starting 11? Are you trying to make peace?

You don't have to suck up to a player to get him back on your side. Especially if he's "a professional" like you claimed.

2 weeks between games on training ground, you would think some progress would be made but no, we looked worse than in Liverpool.

You would think some progress would’ve been made since he came in, not like our squad was a bad one before.

Wouldnt be surprised if Boehly and the board are looking for a replacement. Replacing him sharpish issues a statement that as a club we demand better. Also his number 2 Billy Reid ? looks equally perplexed when the cameras on him. If we draw /lose next couple of games it makes perfect sense to offload, before the half billion squad start turning on him/themselves.

Who would you replace him with ?

im afraid Potter won’t leave until the end of the season at least, only if things become really dire then he gets the boot sooner, it will depend on who is available right now. I just don’t see this new board getting rid of Potter so soon after publicly backing him. To be honest at this point i would gladly take Tuchel back and see what he could do with these new players, but that ship has long sailed, unfortunately the new board and Tuchel didn’t see eye to eye.

Hansi Flick??? Media claim he has been on Stamford Bridge.. Also Boehly stomped dressing room after the match.

i wouldn’t mind having him here, tbh this lot deserves a proper stomping, what a shitshow of a season, embarassing.

Nah, give him time, he needs more "his players" over the 16 we've currently got and then time to smooth things out and then there's surely some good excuse for him and then give him time to promote us from Championship, because he did incredible work at Brighton, eg doing decent but worse, than without him, lol. Shocking, but some will still refuse to see the obvious ridiculity of this appointment.

Get someone now and we can prepare to challenge next season. Give potter time and you can write off next season too

I am happy from now on we are only going for managers that suit our philosophy and direction new owners are taking us. We never had that before, just changing from one thing to another. So guys like Mourinho, Conte, Tuchel wouldn't even be considered. But yeah, Flick is legitimate option.

That would be a solid option.

Potter just reminds me of Moyes at United version 2.0, he's never had to handle so many egos/big names in the dressing room and you can tell he is out of his depth.

There is no way that any fan should be accepting a 0-0 draw against our local rivals Fulham, particularly at home.   There was enough "talent" out there to score at least 1 goal against them.

People used to Lampard was a bit out of his depth trying to manage Chelsea but at least he had connections with the club and understood the fans, Potter is no better and he hasn't really improved anyone this season other than Kepa...

That whole "big egos" talk is just another way of blurring Potter's incompetence. There is no "egos", it's not 2015 anymore. It's just mid to big players and tiny manager, let's get it straight.

Maybe it works in baseball or whatever, but in top of the top football that PL is you just can't get a pass with some random dude as a manager. I wouldn't be surprised if even some of Brighton players wouldn't really have much respect for him, especially given his near-stereotypical character that is the opposite of a leader and serial winner.

I just wonder what TB sees in him - yeah, he is a cartoon english man, but what percentage of fanbase give a shit about it? TB wanted to come out as a big time football visionary and got burnt, whatever, own up to a mistake. I'd much rather understand holding for dear life to Koulibaly than this absurd of a situation.

It is starting to remind me of the Belgium golden generation. Obviously, we had better teams in the past but the current squad is full of talented players. And we have appointed Graham Potter to get the best ouf of them.

I can't help it but it feels like that Belgium national team that is managed by useless Wilmots and Martinez...

They hired him in the first place so be intresting to know why...maybe they just saw someone doing well elsewhere and thought it would work here?

But was he really? He kept mid-table team mid-table. Is that really the kind of success that draws Chelsea to you? Ranieri with Leicester was doing well, yeah.

And I wont even get started on "good football" bs. Good football is like, yeah, winning freaking games, meanwhile some people look like they will watch games with hand in their pants because we are 49% instead of 37% vertical passes and draw to last team in the table. And the chad Potter comes out and stutters that we were fighting, but they were just too good.

I can, somehow, see what was TB idea, but yeah, idea and reality don't always go together and maybe the real football proven bit more complicated, than the bright, romantic idea. On the other hand, I don't understand it for shit. The "young and hungry talents" would probably be machines under like of Lampard, but Potter? Lol. He neither have the character nor the skill and one needs at least on of those for it to work.

Since GP appointment, I feel many of our fans got the mindset that burdened people supporting Arsenal for years.
