I do not see Tuchel letting Jorginho go, unless you hand him a Manuel Locatelli, Rúben Neves, Ismaël Bennacer, Bruno Guimarães, or Marcelo Brozovic type deep holder/regista (all of those would be an upgrade btw) who can soak up massive pressure (which Jorginho is sometimes insanely good at, but FAR too often fucks up and does something maddeningly stupid)

or Rice, which at £80 to 90m, is not happening

maybe Kalvin Phillips or Douglas Luiz, but good luck getting them for fair value, Leeds and Villa have ZERO reason to sell

Varane, yes, absolutely, if we fail on Bastoni (I think we have no shot at Marquinhos, and Pep wants Bastoni so so bad, he likely will toss Laporte in on a swap + cash deal, which I think is stupid, as in theory, I think Laporte is still superb,, and they would have 3 of the top 6, 7, or 8 CBs on the planet of they bring in Bastoni and keep Laporte)

Not sure any of those would work as 1 on 1 Jorginho replacements due to different playing style but i would take Locatelli (been a big advocate of him for months and i think one of the first who brought this name up here, really happy most who checked him out since joined me), Neves  and maybe Guimaraes. I think Brozovic is too old and I don't rate Kalvin Phillips, Bennacer or Douglas Luiz. All three are guilty of letting the game pass them by too often. Weigl would probably the closest to a 1 for 1 Jorginho replacement but I actually don't want a 1 for 1 replacement. What Jorginho does is simply not enough.

The ideal player to take his place would be someone who has the same composure, passing and tempo control ability and tactical discipline but is less error prone, physically stronger, better tackler, can play line breaking balls from deep and also can roam from box to box if necessary to support the attack. That player probably does not exist but I think Locatelli and Rice come closest. I have not seen enough of Tchouameni but whilst some liken him to Bakayoko some say he is exactly what we need.

Robert Lewandowski has refused to rule out a move away from Bayern Munich this summer, admitting he’s ‘open minded’ about the future and keen to experience ‘new cultures’.

The 32-year-old had yet another phenomenal season in front of goal for Bayern, netting 41 times in 29 appearances to break Gerd Muller’s 49-year-old Bundesliga scoring record for a single campaign in the German top flight.

However, there has been speculation surrounding Lewandowski’s future with Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid all said to be weighing up big-money moves for the Poland sensation, despite the fact he still has two years remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena.

A recent report from Sky Sport Germany suggested Chelsea had already opened talks over a possible deal for Lewandowski as Thomas Tuchel looks to strengthen his Champions League-winning squad with the addition of a top-class centre-forward.

And while Bayern are insistent Lewandowski will be going nowhere during the close season, the striker did little to dampen speculation that he could be set to switch clubs during an interview with Canal+ on Sunday.

‘I remain open minded. I feel very good at Bayern, the city is superb, it’s a great club,’ he told the French TV channel.

‘I am always curious to learn a new language, a new culture.

But whether it will be in football or after my career, even I don’t know.’ 

Lewandowski broke Muller’s long-standing Bundesliga record in the last minute of Bayern’s final match against Augsburg and the forward even surprised himself with his incredible feat, especially as he was sidelined for most of April.

‘I am not obsessed with records. When I take on new challenges, I try to do what no one has ever done because it pushes me to move forward,’ the Poland international added.

‘For me if you do something you love, you can achieve goals you thought were impossible.

‘To be honest, I thought no player could come close to that record, especially since I didn’t play for several matches. I was injured for part of the season.

Seems reasnoble this. For me it's finding the fine balance between taking advantage of our position both achievement wise and financially in the market and keeping the inner-peace and togetherness in the squad. For me, personally, Lukaku would be a wrong choice, I'd rather try get Lewandowski if he's up for a challange. The publicity alone will repay his wages. I'd much rather take a "Demba Ba" if nothing reasnoble is on offer. I do feel Werner will come good, his movement and positional awareness, mentality is spot on. I'd much rather loan Tammy out to mid-table team like Arsenal (kidding!) and re-evaluate next season. Would be gutted to see CHO go permanently, I think he'll definately come good.

Of course he favours a move to United when we haven't even discussed to his agent, means shit as we saw with Werner, the main problem is actually being seriously interested in him not just circling around.

That said if we are hellbent on a striker get Lautaro, doesn't matter if he is similar to Werner he is classes above Lukaku and still young.

As for Hakimi whats the point of spending big on him when we have James.

Depends on who you're pairing the pacey person with, if it is Silva or AC then fine, if it is with Rudi or Zouma not so great. In a back 3 it would be fine so long as the CCB is a Silva/AC type. 

People really need to remember how we defended in a 4 since the title winning season in 2015. Every season since then, we have suffered real keystone cop moments when trying to defend in a 4.

This I think is mostly due to us not having a CB who can read the game properly (Cahil could but was done by 2017, and was always slow), AC is still a very young CB and obviously had confidence issues. 

So, anyway, pace is important but not as important as having someone who can hold the line and read the game properly.
