Popular Post! Superblue 6,372 Posted August 21, 2024 Popular Post! Share Posted August 21, 2024 Just seen Maresca's presser and he's certainly gone up in my estimation as a result. Maybe we're a little used to it with the likes of Jose, Conte and to a slightly lesser degree Tuchel, but I like a manager that can be a bit prickly with the media, somebody that can send their boring questions back to them with a straight bat and assert who's the one in control. I can understand that a couple of questions may be fielded about Sterling or Gallagher, but do we need a whole 20 minute press conference to be the same question recycled in a different way to try and get a different answer. Maresca repeating his answers just made them all look like the absolute mugs they are. He definitely has something about him when compared to the ultra nice approaches of Potter and Poch. Hopefully we can get a good result tomorrow to get everything kick started. There was something I read the other day that suggested Chelsea have cleared or are in the process of clearing around £100m a year from its wage bill moving forward which will play a huge hand in tackling PSR in the future. I think it's pretty obvious if Sterling and Mudryk were paid the same wages, it would likely be a different outcome but the club can't have a bit part player on £325k a week. Same as Chilwell. Same as Kepa. Same as Lukaku. If we can find homes in particular for those 4 by the end of the window, that will be a massive positive. Fulham Broadway 17,333
Sterling was gone as soon as he released that 'poor me' statement. If every player did that when they're not performing/in favour the whole professional game would collapse. He needs to realise its a team sport, and not all about him Duppy Conqueror
Duppy Conqueror 1,543
Sterling drove the final nail in his coffin with that statement in the media on opening day.but he was already dead to us really. I don't see him clinging to our leg like a homesick turd though despite the mind boggling salary he's on and think we'd prefer to take a substantial loss than have him lingering. Lots of clubs in the Prem either in London or close enough he can be easy travel to his family if thats what he still wants. Superblue 6,372
On Felix, wouldn't have been my choice to sign but I have a lot of respect for someone who has a big name and reputation, to accept that he needed a fresh start and was willing to do what he needed to ensure that happened. I don't think his loan spell here was particularly great, but I also don't think it was poor either and in fairness to him he did show signs of bright sparks and a bit of flair in what was a really turbulent and depressing period at the club. Absolutely no question of the raw talent he possesses. It's up to him to have the right attitude and be in the right environment with the right coach capable of extracting that. There's been so many questions in the media recently of players on long contracts and the negatives of that, but in Felix's case, a new permanent home might be just the thing he needs. It's not too late for him to realise that potential. Blue Armour
DDA 9,941
Fuck Sterling. Never felt like a Chelsea player. His performances on the pitch proved that, not passing in obvious positions and trying to dribble past every man and his dog. He’s as selfish as it gets and is showing his true colours by throwing his toys out of the pram. I hate to break it to you pal.. you're not as good as you think you are. mkh and Vesper
Fulham Broadway 17,333
43 players in the first-team squad with a league-high combined 191 years remaining on their contracts. Clownlake need to trim the fat. Blue Armour
Fulham Broadway 17,333
Mourinho was/is many things but his 2 top players for every position mantra made perfect sense and works generally. 9 keepers is akin to mental illness. Plyushkin's disorder, is a mental disorder characterised by persistent difficulty in parting with possessions and engaging in excessive acquisition of items that are not needed or for which no space is available. mkh 601
Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Ben Chilwell from Chelsea. [@alex_crook] Manchester United want £40M for Jadon Sancho, and some at the club sense Chelsea may make an approach before the window shuts. Even Carragher on MNF had his own agenda and thinks he knows what is going on when he actually knows fuck all, simple as that. The only thing you should believe in the papers is the date it was always like that. might change when we actaully win something, until then, they will always have arguments. Special Juan 28,146
Neto will get the 7 shirt, and Felix the 14 and the number 9 is unallocated as we are working on a striker bigbluewillie
mkh 601
Pedro Neto will wear the Chelsea No. 7 shirt this season. The 7 shirt had been worn by Raheem Sterling. Neto wore the No. 19 shirt when he made his debut against Manchester City on Sunday. The £54m signing from Wolves came on as a second half substitute in the 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. Sterling wore 17 after his move from Manchester City two years ago and switched to 7 last season. New signing Joao Felix will wear the No. 14 shirt which had belonged to Trevoh Chalobah. Chalobah has been told in face-to-face talks that he is not in head coach Enzo Maresca’s plans for next season. Felix wore 14 on loan at Barcelona last season. He had the 11 shirt when he was on loan at Chelsea 18 months ago. Chelsea’s No. 9 shirt remains unallocated as the club continue to work on signing a new striker. It is anticipated that any fans who bought a 19 Neto shirt can exchange it for a 7 Neto shirt.
Magic Lamps 11,692
I like the ruthlessness but surely 21 players is not counting the u21 right? We can’t go into the longest season in club history with just 21 players
