As amazing as Jackson looked through preseason, what happens if he gets to the PL and needs a while to settle? Or continues his impressive preseason form but does everything except for score goals for 3-5 games in a row? Who’s scoring goals reliably in this team with Nkunku out?

If Vlahovic is our only answer then….yikes. Or an injured Olise who also won’t play for months.

Getting Caicedo will be amazing and should make us incredibly formidable but I just hope we don’t have another season of not being able to score in a brothel.

Maatsen will step up. He has looked good at the CAM position.

Has he played there? He was always an inside forward for preseason with Carney at CAM.

Also is Broja fucking dead?

Reconstructive surgery on MCL is a bad one. The average person will need 9-12 months to recover. Pro athletes maybe less but I still doubt Nkunku will have any meaningful impact this season if the tweet is true

It could just be keyhole for the meniscus. 4-10 weeks.

I knew I should not have held my tongue when he got injured at RB Leipzig

but I deluded myself as I so loved him as player and the injury did not seem that bad (oh stupid me!)

I will NEVER make that mistake again

Yup. A fit Nkunku would have been our best attacker since Hazard. now we might never know…

He apparently has not only sustained MCL tear but also miniscus damage. Miniscus replacement surgery was  what took Fernando Torres’s pace away. Let’s hope it is not part of the treatment here.

Tbf he always recovered well from his 3 bigger injuries before but there is a nonzero probability he js perma wrecked like Fofana. I hope we have him well ensured.

Chelsea respond to Neymar transfer link as Paris Saint-Germain set £60m asking price

Chelsea have distanced themselves from reports suggesting that they are in talks to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Brazil international is keen to leave PSG before the end of the summer transfer window.

Reports in France have claimed that a return to Barcelona is Neymar’s preferred destination, however, the Spanish champions are prioritising other signings including Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Neymar, with RMC Sport reporting on Monday that the Premier League club have remained in contact with the forward’s representatives.

However, The Guardian reports that Chelsea insiders have dismissed suggestions that the club will make an attempt to sign Neymar this summer.

Neymar’s link with Chelsea was also fuelled by his positive relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, who took charge at Stamford Bridge at the start of July.

‘It’s so easy with Neymar because you don’t need to do too much,’ Pochettino said of Neymar in 2021.

‘From day one, he’s been very open to work. He’s very humble, he listens and always accepts all the instructions in a very good way.’

Meanwhile, The Times report that PSG are open to selling Neymar and would accept a transfer fee between £60 million and £70m for the 31-year-old.

A likely destination for Neymar could be the Saudi Pro League, which has already seen the arrivals of Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez this summer.

Moises Caicedo attempts to force Chelsea transfer ahead of Premier League season opener

https://metro.co.uk/2023/08/07/moises-caicedo-attempts-to-force-Chelsea-transfer-ahead-of-premier-league-opener-19293148/

The Ecuador international was absent for Brighton’s final pre-season fixture against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, with the club claiming that the midfielder was sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have seen multiple offers rejected by Brighton, including a bid of £80 million which was turned down last week.

According to Relevo, Caicedo is hoping to help push through a move to Chelsea this week by missing Monday’s training session.

The report claims that the 21-year-old has also removed his belongings from the club’s training ground.

Brighton, however, are adamant that Caicedo will not be allowed to leave unless their £100m asking price is met.

The club believe that their midfielder should command a similar fee to the £105m Arsenal paid to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.

Speaking on Sunday, Brighton’s chief executive and deputy chairman, Paul Barber, indicated that he expects Caicedo to still be at the club for their Premier League opener against Luton Town on Saturday.

‘Moises had a slight hamstring injury late in training and was pulled out for that reason,’ Barber said.

‘With a Premier League season just a week away it makes no sense to risk him today.

‘We’re looking forward to Moises starting the season with us, he’s a Brighton player under a long-term contract.

‘He’s probably one of the most exciting young midfield players in the world at the moment and we’re delighted to have him.’
