shrenshah 186
Dont think lb cover with a 50mn player should be priority for us Eapecially if it means if we loose colwill. Someone like a maehle would have worked. Cucu at lcb wont be ideal given his height...really not getting the boards thinking here...this is going to be a transition year, might as well give colwill the minutes
cosmicway 1,333
I don't believe Chelsea's scoring problem are the forwards are such. Ok Lukaku proved wanting and Werner is one of the inglorious league of chance wasters. But Kai-Pulisic and Ziyech ? Why ? The real problem is we don't have players to open up defenses and free spaces. Hazard was definitely one and Cesc with his accurate passing. Really I don't see how if we had signed Haaland he could pull things out of the fire without a Hazard to do the preliminary work for him. NOT HAPPY AT ALL it is madness Cucurella for 30m + Colwill with a buyback. That's a good deal. I would overlook the lack of height if the player has the technical ability, ball progression of Cucurella. With another CB (Fofana), we won't need Cucurella starting every week at LCB either since Fofana, Silva, Koulibaly can be fielded. This is actually a massive Alonso/Emerson upgrade and one that we were crying out for since the Chilwell injury derailed our season. Cucurella is much more rounded than Alonso from an attacking perspective; better at carrying the ball, against the press, passer, and linking up. That adds a lot more to the overall team. I do agree with your point on Chilly. Edited August 4, 2022 by Clockwork

It's Marcus's goal contributions, and the goal threat at the far post which opponents have to account for, that I would put on the other side of the ledger. The goal threat from Alonso came at a big cost to the team balance and defensive solidity imo. Credit to him, he put in good shifts in the two cup finals but he lacked pace which makes a big difference in this wingback system. I feel Cucurella even without similar assist/goal numbers - will help the team progress the ball up-field and maintain possession there. Should improve our attack as well with his mobility, passing. oldportblue 547
I’m not sure why we’re trying for de jong.. He’s a very nice player but would be super expensive + he is really bad defensively and is a very similar profile to kovacic, who isn’t going anywhere. manpe 10,861
Aubameyang has flop written all over him if he joined us. He's 33, toxic and we'd be doing Farca a favour. Plus he just joined them in January, why would he leave so soon?

Pizy 18,994
Kind of contradictory, no? Cucurella is “done” but Colwill isn’t. But the move can only happen if they sign Colwill. Which they haven’t. So it can’t be done. Is it done in a sense that the price and structure is generally agreed to or done as in everything is signed? Kind of a difference. Brighton is the best team for his development. Similar kind of set up to us with the back 3. They also play a possession based game and play out from the back. Ideal team for him to get some PL experience at before we buy him back if he impresses down there.

The concern I guess is that he’s one of those youth players who feels he’s too good for Brighton and will only go to a big club. Of which there are probably plenty in his ear.
