So he accepted 40% reduction and a contract on 2 years only? Lol Yeah he rejected an offer for double that amount from Barca in January pissing off xavi in the process and one from us when he always wanted to stay. That’s how you fuck up your leverage. Barca completely looked through his bluff Vesper

Feels like the kind of player we would want at the back, given that we once had Rudiger. Have not seen that kind of aggression from De Ligt, but I could be wrong. IF we had them in a back two starting next summer, we would probably have the best CB combo on the planet. Blue Armour

They are not skint anymore. 😧 https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/barcelona-agreement-dejong-raphinha-transfers-27369125 Barcelona have secured a huge windfall having agreed to sell a significant chunk of their television rights - giving them a timely financial boost for the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants recently confirmed their decision to generate income by selling their broadcasting rights - the club’s members voting through the sale. It has not taken long for an agreement to be reached with the Spanish giants announcing that 10% of their LaLiga TV rights have been sold to global investment firm Sixth Street. They are set to invest €207.5m (£178.1m) over the 2022/23 season, with Barcelona receiving a ‘total capital gain' of €267m (£229m).

We did not lose them tho cos we never really had them. Dembele always wanted to stay there, even after being humiliated with huge pay cut. Same goes for Raphinha, he always wanted Barca even if he had to stay at Leeds for one more year. We never were an option for either. Still sucks but let's not get depressed over sth this ridiculous. Also I am totally fine with only loading off Ziyech and getting Sterling in who is the best out of the 3 anyway.

Vesper 30,181
Even if no Barca (and Barca will buy him now that they got a 267m euro injection of liquidity), Raphinha doesn't want to come here Raphinha 'prefers to stay at Leeds' over joining Chelsea as transfer saga rumbles on RAPHINHA is not keen on joining Chelsea this summer https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1634596/Chelsea-Leeds-United-Raphinha-transfer-saga-news-update-latest-SNT Chelsea's hopes of signing Raphinha from Leeds United appear to be over, after a new report revealed that the Brazilian winger would 'rather stay put' than join the Blues. Arsenal and Barcelona are also interested in striking a deal for the 25-year-old, who is expected to leave Leeds this summer.

Worse yet, imagine turning down more money and a better team (in Raphinha’s case) or straight up taking a massive pay cut to stay (in Dembele’s case). Just our shit luck that two of our biggest targets are so in love with Barca that they’ll accept worse terms to be there. Vesper

I never was remotely secure that we would buy anyone who is now gone. I did think Dembele was going to be a close run thing but we might pull him. We all knew for weeks that Barca was getting that €267m in levers. That was never in doubt, not even remotely. They are a bigger club and can pull most anyone away from us, even more so for Real. I am super worried (have been for months) that Reece will go to Real next summer. The only way I see them NOT going balls deep to pull him is if they decide to move for a Hakimi return. IF we lose Reece, Hakimi would be a pull that I could more than live with, BUT, I doubt he chooses us over leaving PSG. Those two are the only truly WC RB's either here or remotely available. There are 5 TRULY WC (atm) RB's on the planet atm. It is just a massive drop off atm after those 5. Besides Reece and Hakimi, one of the others doesn't even play RB much at all anymore (Kimmich), another (TAA) is at Pool, and the other is on Citeh, João Cancelo. Walker still can, on occasion, get to that level, but as I have said so many times, he is ageing out (only played half the possible minutes last season) and his offensive game is nothing like those other 5, never was, he was always the defensive jet-powered stopper. If we lose James, and can't pull Hakimi, we likely will go for a return of Livramento, as long as he is filly fit and as long as his play is up to level. Matty Cash is the only other acceptable option for me atm if no Livra, and both of them are such massive drop offs atm from the top 5. RB globally is just fucked in terms of quality once you go past the top 5. It really is crazy. Pedro Porro (Citeh reject), ffs, lol, is ranked in the top 7 most valuable! Juan Foyth (Spuds reject) is 9th. Edited July 2, 2022 by Vesper
