Maravel21 36
If we sign fofana actually I don’t care about azpi he will be benchwarmer. If Reece James gets injured we have and challobah for Rwb position . Chalobah is a good second choice he is a good defender not perfect but ok Edited August 4, 2022 by Maravel21

This is football you should have and luck in your team If Haaland does his hammy they also bought Alvarez who some think will eventually be even better. But anyways, we didn’t need to sign some top class new RWB to backup James. Just someone who can actually run, contribute a little to the attack, and not get ripped apart in open space defensively. Azpi has looked really poor for a while now. He’s still capable of the odd class performance, yes. Maravel21
Mário César 1,252
If we sign fofana, I guess its okey Chilwell (Cucurella) Thiago, KK, Forfana (Chalobah/Azpi/Cucurella) Reece (Azpi) I think its okay lets see if we sign both cucu and forfana

Pizy 18,897
Colwill going to Brighton permanently with a reasonable buy back clause was a great deal. If we now try to get cute and insist that it’s only a loan (which Brighton would be kinda dumb to accept) and screw up this deal I’m gonna be pissed. We are paying the full valuation on Cucurella. Why should Brighton dictate how we should sell or loan Colwill? We want the best deal for ourselves at the end of the day. Both deals are supposedly separate, so the ball should be in our court. If they were to lower the price as a result, that would be a different story.

That makes no sense and puts Brighton in a fragile position moving forward as they will be known to change goal posts. They had a valuation on Cucurella, we met it and reliable journalists are saying it’s signed. They want us to work with them on Colwill as good gesture, however we are only looking for the best interest for ourselves. Did Brighton give us a discount on Cucurella? No, they didn’t. We owe them nothing. Edited August 4, 2022 by MoroccanBlue oldportblue, manpe, Boycie and 5 others 7

Pizy 18,897
Unless Cucu is seen primarily as our new LCB, imagine if KK is the only CB we buy this summer with Azpi being seen as a stopgap…

That is ridiculous money for a player who is going to be back up and is slowly declining. Too many players are getting fat paychecks. No wonder he is choosing to stay with that money offered. He is a great professional to have around with his experience, but for that money I would say it is better moving on.

oldportblue 547
Azpi deal makes sense for us, we don't have to blow cash on a dumfries or kwp (and RLC can be a decent option there if needed)... Hopefully that means we have more cash available to get Fofana over the line. Edited August 4, 2022 by oldportblue
DDA 9,937
Azpi at CB isn't that bad of a choice. He is a great defender still just absolute shite at going forward.
