One more top attacking signing would’ve made us a serious threat at top of table and in CL? A top top GK and CB would’ve been more important than Simons, Garnacho or any other attacking players at this point in the window. And would allow us to continue with this younger/developing attacking players because at least we wouldn’t be relying on outscoring teams due to not being able to keep clean sheets from GK errors or poor defending.

People keep talking about attacking midfielders and wingers but this team will probably never win a CL or a PL without top players in those 2 positions. Point out any title winning teams of the past 10 years without those positions being covered & look at the nearly did/teams that threw it away.. what did they lack?

On Simons - mentioned before, why would any attacking player with options where they would be first choice at a pretty competitive level is specifically looking at coming here now when we have the options we have currently is beyond me. We have enough numbers in attack, for any #10s and wide players thinking a move here at present is a good idea, near the end of the window… need their heads examined.

Look at the way Liverpool and City have defended to start the season. Shambolic from both of them. Neither is exactly going to be prime Mourinho Chelsea throughout this season. But what Liverpool will have is an outrageous array of attacking options one they inevitably sign Isak.

So while yes, we have serious question marks about our defense and keeper, had we made the right attacking signing I truly do think we could’ve mounted a title challenge. We wouldn’t have had enough to actually win it but at least fight for it.

We have had a good window, plenty of additions that will help the team, delap and Pedro up top is a great upgrade from last season, este on the right is going to be a proper proper player, gittens I will not judge and will not right him off yet, santos and other lad who’s name I won’t attempt in the middle are also great additions. Hato will be a solid cover and expect him to start challenging for a starting spot, garnacho for me is a good signing, he’s PL proven, and when I’ve watched untied players he’s been one that always stands out. Personally couldn’t give 2 fucks about Simon’s, we need a CB and a GK

This...

State of comments here is unbelievable

As a few other have said, we may as well keep Jackson here if all we’re going to get is £12m and no obligation to buy.

Do we really need that £12m so badly? Especially if George goes too?

Not bothered about the loan fee, if we get 12m and he does well, it will make him easier to sell, because he sure as shit isn’t going to get much game time here

Don’t think he’d struggle that much for playing time if Maresca is going to play 2 strikers frequently.

What’s unbelievable is how this new ownership has successfully managed to lower the majority of the fanbases expectations and general standards.

I, along with the minority are trying to stay as positive as possible and look at things objectively. I don’t think our squad is horrible and we do have some terrific players but and there is a huge but.. there have been and will still be incredibly frustrating stunts being pulled by the board in the transfer market. I think what makes things worse is the blatant PR being fed to us through Fabrizio and others about us looking to buy really exciting talent like Olise, Raphiniha, Kounde, Lopez, Osimhen, Maignan and soo many more only to end up with such lesser tried and trusted players. Some have worked out but many haven’t. The utter disrespect that is show to this fanbase who should demand more. It’s not wrong to demand more you know!! Roman gave us that .. he gave is the right to demand success. Many have forgotten that.

I'm going to agree with any attempt to sign Rogers and I'm going to talk about the importance of the squad team this season. I've said all of this before so anyone who has read what I have to say about it before won't miss anything if they dip out here.

I see 8 as Rogers optimum position and, given any encouragement by Villa, would certainly attempt to add him to the squad. If signed I would then prefer him over Enzo. For me he matches Enzo's physical attributes and betters our vice captain's technical skills. Even given that Enzo outscored Rogers last season I believe Rogers improves us immediately.

Starting with the game at Lincoln, Enso will obviously hope to use the squad team for appropriate domestic cup matches. Beyond that it would make a massive contribution if he can use them against 'pot 4' CL opponents and even, crucially, in some Pl games either side of big CL fixtures. It's been a key help to Pep over the years that he could rotate heavily and still pile up PL points. If we can give Enso that luxury it will be an important step.

Why you call footballer Enzo and manager EnSo?

Also, we play 4231. There is no number 8 in that formation. There are hybrid types when in possession one midfield goes up but do we think Rogers can play double pivot? Here he'd definitely be number 10.

Yes of course

But on the flip side they have managed to assemble an exciting attacking side...

Personally I don't care about which transfer succeed or not as far as attacking options is concerned....am much concerned about our central defence and the goalkeeper.....

The fact that a GK or CB hasn’t even been talked about is insanity and shows they don’t really care about challenging at the top.

Nahhh I dont think its their aim.

I think be same as last year. Hopefully bit less intense but still top 4 not close to the top and maybe a semi final or two..

I understand why people always compare to Roman era, and Roman signed so fucking class talent let’s get it right, but he also signed some fucking absolute dross as well, so far this seems to be the same as of now, the only difference is we are also selling most of the shit we buy for decent money as well, and we have one of the most exciting young sides in the league that will only improve, different ways of doing things and the last 3 years hasn’t helped as far as league position goes, but we are getting there.
