This the same Cherki we all were wary off given how notoriously lazy he is?

I remember myself and many other Chelsea fans here and elsewhere really wanted him last summer but I do think he’d be more of a risky signing for us than he is for City.

He could be perfect for that Pep system where they’re going to try to pass everyone to death and play at a slow pace. Whereas here you can tell by our signings and targets that Maresca wants high tempo, hard pressing monsters and width from his wide players.

Pep’s sides are known for their work ethic just as much as their ability to control the ball.

This screams like a desperation signing from Pep in order to replicate KDB’s influence despite Cherki not providing any press nor defensive work rate. Teams that have midfields who dribble in transition will skin Cherki.

They're presumably betting that Pep can break Cherki's spirit into being a hard working automaton

If he creates clean chances for Haaland and they sort out his work rate they'll be unstoppable

But that's a big IF.

Manchester City interested in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli

Manchester City are interested in signing goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in the market for a new third-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Scott Carson, who spent six seasons at the Etihad.

Bettinelli’s only appearance across four seasons at Chelsea was the 5–1 FA Cup third round victory over National League side Chesterfield in January 2022.

The 33-year-old former Fulham goalkeeper, who has a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, is now on the radar of City, where he is expected to be behind Ederson and Stefan Ortega in the pecking order.

With the clubs on good terms and with Chelsea appreciative of Bettinelli’s service over his four years at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea expect to finalise talks soon and agree for the Englishman to join City in time for the upcoming Club World Cup. Both Chelsea and City are competing at the tournament and get their campaigns underway against LAFC and Wydad AC respectively.

There is the possibility that Ederson, their first-choice goalkeeper of the past eight years, could depart City this summer which would prompt them to go into the market for a first-choice goalkeeper.

However, Guardiola appeared to confirm that Ederson and Ortega would stay at City beyond this season, when speaking in Girona last week at the Camiral PGA Catalunya.

“I think the two goalkeepers we have, Ederson and Stefan, will be staying,” Guardiola said. “So, we are happy with what we have.”

Chelsea currently have Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Djordje Petrovic — who spent last season on loan at Strasbourg — on their books, while Mike Penders has joined from Genk.

Only 1 natural wide player out of the three, would be interesting to see how Amorim fits them together with Amad.

Looking like they want to play 3-4-3 that Amorim likes

AMs Cunha and Mbeumo behind a striker with Amad as the wing back - which they've done a few times already

I don’t get this contacts ongoing for days, wtf are they talking about? How much is he 15 million? Yes no less! So would you take 12.5? Hell no? Ok we will place a bid of 12.5m. We reject it, ok so what do you want for him. 15m would you take 13.4? No we want 15m, Chelsea bid 13.4. We reject it…… good grief

Pretty normal negotiation.

We have no pressure to sign - have 4 GKs - Sanchez, Jorgensen, Petrovic, Kepa + Penders, Bettinelli etc
