Signing just Delap is already risky because he’s not the finished product. Signing Delap AND Ekitike who is also a development project would be silly. 

Maresca is a moron. Literally this is the guy that had a completely on fire Palmer and told him to change his game to aide his boring style of football, which consequently led of his form tailing off. Palmer's sideways/backwards comment yesterday wasn't just a joke imo. Therefore, I wouldn't read too much into his love of Jackson.

I too was thinking about that 'sideways/backwards' comment from Palmer. At the time I wondered if he had referred to his own decision making, but he clearly is talking about the team and it's tactics. Whether Maresca explicitly tells players to not be more direct and not use their inventiveness, is a separate matter.

30M is a bargain in this day and age, he has time to grow and develop which we know the club are looking for, we can't get away from that, he's the perfect age for what the club want and if he hits the ground running it's a complete win win situation. I just like his raw bullish ways that we have seen this season, his off the ball movement is really good and he's a fucking nightmare to mark as proven when he ragged our backline about at Portman Road.

What do you guys think of going for Mbuemo? Much like Delapmhes got that perfect combo of pace and power and is a total bitch to play against as we’ve seen firsthand several times. He’s most effective on the right hand side as well so can easily play together with Delap/Jackson and with Palmer feeding him.

I’d take him in a heartbeat. Goals, creativity, pace, power, PL proven, and available for a decent price.

Maresca is a Pep acolyte so I imagine he does micromanage the players. There was a clear divide in our season where we played with some semblance of pattern but where still playing aspects of counter attack like Poch's team (Aug-Oct) and full Maresca ball (Nov-onwards.) 

Additionally, be a acolyte I imagine he essentially copies his mentor and Pep is known to explicitly dictate what players do unless their name is Messi. 

Say you say, Palmer's quote was indeed loaded. I can imagine he isn't happy at finding himself under another manager who is the knock off version of the one that sold him for £40m because he is too much of a maverick/off the cuff player.

Absolutely agree. Like you, we need to: 

a) be realistic about what type of players we are going to sign. 

b) like players who have a bullishness.

c) recognise Delap is a project but appreciate he showed a lot considering the side he was playing in last season. 

d) Is a Bargain.

What is interesting is that we were completely split on Lukaku coming back. Me being probably the most against on here, and you being pretty pro. Shows how people can see different things in football but equally agree on other things within the game.

For me he is a Grealish/Zaha in that he is one of those players that is great for a smaller team but gets a bit lost in a bigger team to pin down his exact role.

I think Mbeumo at the price mentioned 50m is a great pickup. But we need someone for the left side first since Palmer Madueke and Estevao all play on the right

I disagree. I think Mbeumo is gonna come off for a big team too. His finishing and numbers were better than most wide forwards except Salah this season. Liverpool Arsenal and City don’t seem to be interested in going for a winger so the competition is Man United and Newcastle. This is a good pickup if we offload Madueke

I think Grealish and Zaha both moved to the wrong teams at the wrong time. I still maintain that both could’ve been big successes in different situations. Mbuemo is 25 now so I think he’d transition well to a bigger club. He’s not a kid anymore who would have the weight and expectation of having to be a superstar like those players were.
