Why are people so sold on Gyokeres?

He returned at less than a goal every 2 games in the championship and has only excelled now in the Portuguese league.

Add to that he is 27. Yet people don’t want to go with the 21 or 22 year olds who are far ahead of where Gyokeres was at that age.

I’m just struggling to see how he is somehow a sure fire lock to bang in goals given his past. Osimhen seems like the safer bet.

The numbers he’s putting up and the actual tape when watching him convinced me personally that he’s not simply a big fish in a small pond type who’s dominating a weak league. It’s true that there’s definitely a risk stepping up to the PL but I don’t see anything about him that doesn’t look like it won’t translate well here.

That is fair enough but prior to these two seasons in Portugal he would have been one to stay away from according to this board.

So his last two seasons are essentially making him a must buy?

I’m not the biggest Osimhen fan either but I think he does better against low blocks and EPL defences based on his aerial threat and back to goal play.

Ben Jacobs reporting we are ready to act fast for a striker....Delap, Ekitike, Sesko and Gyokares all on the list

Would take Sesko/Gyokeres over both Delap and the French kid

Just saw on goal.com that Arsenal have apparently submitted a bid for the Sporting striker Gyokeres.

Man City are interested in Ryan Cherki, him and Gibbs White in their list along with Reijnders

Im sure we were interested in Cherki before.. and now for only a small fee he is available.

Mind you, we have other priorities so It’s a good thing we are only being linked to Strikers at the moment, I guess.

Jackson was a striker that played well when there was space to run into. We should be looking for a striker who can play well vs the deep blocks. Someone who is technically gifted and can finish half chances. Delap will be the wrong call with the kind of strikers that are set to move this summer

City are going to be back to being a serious threat for everything next season. Like Liverpool, it appears they’re going to continue being surgical in identifying and going to get their targets just like they were in January.

All the more reason to hope we get our recruitment spot on. City won’t have a season as calamitous by their standards again. Getting anywhere near them and Liverpool is going to require a perfect window from us.

Which Sarr?

Asking about Sarr in football is like asking about Andersson here in Sweden, or Johnson in the UK, lolol

There was a moment when I thought Ismaila will be top club player but it seems mid-table PL is his level. And I meant Mamadou of course.

I have my doubts about city

Losing a KDB is a huge blow and I dont believe that their last adds will improve them to help city reach close to 100 points again and they have a lot of problems in defense also
