Assuming we do indeed get both Caicedo and Lavia, and Kepa is gone to RM (stupid to not insert a mandatory buy clause on his loan and also madness that Real only have to pay half his salary, as they are literally the world's valuable football team)

then we should do the following (I remain maximal in my desires)

Buy

RW/SMF/CF/SS Kudus

GK Mamardashvili

CF Swap Deal (Vlahovic for Rom + Cash)

If no swap deal, I would with until January and buy Toney (still sell that cunt Lukaku)

Sell (to the Saudis if need be in some cases)

Romelu Lukaku (swap deal)
Conor Gallagher
Marc Cucurella
Hakim Ziyech
Raheem Sterling
Trevoh Chalobah
Armando Broja (unless we do not replace Lukaku)
Callum Hudson-Odoi
Malang Sarr

I’d love him. But in a season without Europe I’m not sure how practical it would be to have Kudus, Sterling and Madueke as options for that spot.

If we can’t pull the Lavia signing off then I’d 100% bring in Kudus to play in the advanced midfield role.

Kudus main roles with us would be RW (not LW) and AMF/SS

Sterling is far more of a LWer

I have always said to sell Sterling to the Saudis

I detest him as a player (good human being though)

Did not Adams fail the physical?

If he failed his physical why would Ornstein post about other PL clubs showing interest in signing him?

You don't disclose why - and let other clubs make an independent assessment of whether to buy or not.

Just like a house really. Don't like something that comes back in pre sale report - don't buy. Someone else might be okay with it though.

If he didn't I still do not want him.

Hopefully we get both Caicedo and Lavia, both of whom are superior players.

Can I be a nobody whom someone pays around £200m (counting salary) for?

That's the price of big potential these days.

What has he accomplished in the game so far? personally, I'll wait and see what he does in big games, esp once we are back playing CL. Let's not pretend we've seen him dominating the midfield against the likes of Real Madrid for ex.

BTW, I used the same argument for one-year-left Mount for 70m and got no love. 😉

Chelsea are on the brink of signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, 21, in deal worth £115m as the Ecuador international prepares to snub Liverpool. (Sunday Telegraph - subscription required)

AND...

The agreement between Caicedo and Chelsea is for a contract until June 2031 plus an option for an extra year, with personal terms agreed in May. (Fabrizio Romano)

AND...

Liverpool are also set to lose out to Chelsea in their pursuit of 19-year-old Belgium midfielder Romeo Lavia, who is set to leave Southampton for Stamford Bridge in a £55m deal. (Mail)

115m for Caicedo is a huge amount of money, but just to put things into context a bit:

1. We had to pay that just because we didn't want to pay 100m initially and then Liverpool came up with 110m on the table. It is our board's fault partially, but at least they tried not to go obscene in this situation. It was impossible.

2. You're not paying the money only for Caicedo. You're paying it to unlock your whole team. Because his profile allows you to change Enzo's role + makes our attack much easier to work.

3. Rival fans are so critical about us spending 105m on 22 y.o. Enzo, 115 on 21 y.o. Caicedo, and 55m on 19 y.o. Lavia. This is a total of 270m. It's a huge amount, but, again, let's put things into context. Liverpool paid 55m on 24 y.o. Mac Allister, 60m on 22 y.o. Szoboszlai and offered 110m on Caicedo. So that's a total of 225 m.

At the same time, we've made a total of 12m on Jorginho, 30m on Kovacic, 60m on Mount, 18.5m on RLC. I'm not gonna include Havertz here, because I consider him part of the attack, not the midfield. That's a total of 120,5m.

Liverpool made 40m on Fabinho, 17m on Henderson, 0m on Keita, 0m on Milner. That's a total of 57m.

Therefore, the net spend for our midfield rebuild would be 149.5m, while they were willing to raise it up to 168m.

All amounts mentioned are with ad-ons included.

So yeah, this is what it takes to rebuild a midfield, like it or not. It's not the narrative that you'll be hearing from rival fans and virtue signaling journos, but it's the reality of football. It's also exactly what other clubs would do. Look at how much Arsenal paid for Rice, look at how much City spent on Rodri, Phillips etc. Look at how much Casemiro cost United.

Rival fans are just salty as they thought our days of spending big were over after Roman was asked to sell the club.

I agree that they are superior players, just not sure if 55 million on Lavia was needed considering we still lack quality in attack.

Would have preferred that money go to someone like Kudus who could have helped our attack this season!
