Vesper 31,107
Welp, the Rice haters may get their wish: Report: West Ham star Declan Rice is open to joining Chelsea but only on one condition https://www.caughtoffside.com/2022/12/24/report-west-ham-star-declan-rice-is-open-to-joining-Chelsea-but-only-on-one-condition/ West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is reportedly open to making a move to Chelsea in the summer. According to the report by The Atlhetic, the English midfielder is ready to sign for the London giants but on one condition, i.e, they qualify for the Champions League this season. As per the report by Daily Mail, West Ham are looking for £100 million for the 23-year-old, while, The Athletic have reported that they are looking for a fee around £150 million. And if the new owners decide to hand Potter an open chequebook, it will be impossible for David Moyes to stop the move from happening. Declan, according to the Athletic, is refusing to sign a new contract with West Ham and will leave the club in the summer of 2023 with the player looking forward to making a move to Chelsea but only if they qualify for the most prestigious European competition. His contract with the Hammers expires in 2025 and this will perhaps be one of the only chance West Ham will get to maximise their profit on him. Pizy 19,280
The thing is, which potential CL club both needs a new DM and will also spend over £100m on Rice? City won’t because they don’t need him. Arse could do with him I guess but would never pay that much. Liverpool could technically use him but are looking at other midfielders. United just signed one of the top players in his position. West Ham to Newcastle would be a sideways move. Spuds would never spend £100m or more on a DM. We look like the only realistic option for him. Couple of aging midfielders coming off our books, best mate is here, his boyhood club etc.
Popular Post! DDA 10,240 Posted December 26, 2022 Popular Post! Share Posted December 26, 2022 People saying we are the new Arsenal because we are buying young players!! Artandur 939
Badiashile looks like it could be smart business. Good scouting might save us nearly 100m here, maybe things are actually changing for the better. Feels like the kind of deal signing Tchouameni 1.5 years ago would've been. As far as I'm aware the Busby Babes are the only exception to the rule that defacto U23 teams don't really win the big titles. Even United CO92 needed experience around them. And then if we can't offer the titles the best of the youngsters may get their head turned by teams that can. laura90 and ulsterchelsea

We already have R.James who is experienced, Mount who is experienced, Chilwell who is experienced, Kova who is experienced, Chalobah who is experienced. Maybe because most of these players came through the academy, people deem them inexperienced but they are all Champions League winners with multiple campaigns under the belt. Even if we assume the likes of Silva, Azpi, Jorginho, Kante, Auba and maybe even Koulibaly will be gone, either the coming summer or the next, there will still be players with plenty of top level experience. That said, I definitely hope the plan of the current owners won't be to have a constant U25 squad and bankroll the club by always selling 'the oldies' before even reaching their peak years because that's most certainly not a winning formula. Instead I think the ideal balance is to have most of the squad around 21-25 years old and then complement them by having a few older heads in the prime of their careers around the team to act as the leaders. Pizy 19,280
Badiashile looks fine but nothing special. He doesn’t look destined to become a world class player or anything like Gvardiol does. In fact, he doesn’t look to be on the same level talent wise as the early 20’s French CB we just signed. He just seems to be a decent CB that the traditional midtable PL clubs would bring in rather than a genuine big club. Our hopes for top 4 are more or less gone so why spend money on a CB now? Not like bringing in Badiashile will change the course of our remaining season. He’s not going to score the goals we need. Why not just ride this season out, take the pain, and survey what’s available then? laura90

Vesper 31,107
None of the complainers have answered my 100% valid, and also very detailed specific questions (backed up with every remotely possible player of high quality, 50 of them, especially the top 30) I so want to hear who these mythical world class players are that we are ignoring/not trying for (they HAVE to be actually available too, popping off with Mbappe or Håland etc is bullshit)

I recall so many having a go about him over the years, slating him, some hard I saw a tonne of potential, but he suffers at times under Simeone's system (or am I just rationalising?) I am not necessarily against it, but he should not be our first choice for a CF IMHO he is hardly a goal machine, and that is in in pinball La Liga too one league goal per every 4 games is hardly the stuff of dreams IF he plays 36 league games, that is 9 goals
MoroccanBlue 5,399
Reading Badiashile is a composed ball playing CB. Good at defending his own box and set pieces. He is a rash tackler though.
