Dumfries as a direct replacement for Azpi in the squad is perfect. That is, if he cost about £20-25m. For the €40m number that has been floating around it’s quite crazy. But at this point we need the bodies.

If we’re going for a versatile defender who can fill in at RWB/RB/RCB though surely Pavard is the more sensible buy than Dumfries? Probably significantly cheaper, too.

Not sold on Dumfries, he's a tireless workhorse up and down that wing and he'd probably get a few plaudits simply due to the shift he puts in but his technical ability and final ball are too inconsistent to be dropping so much money on him.

There's not a huge pool of games there, but from the end of last season (particularly the Southampton and Madrid games) and just watching him in the game over the weekend, RLC is a better option for the RWB squad role this season. He seems a little bit better suited in that position where he has a bit more time and more freedom than he has in the pivot. If a good offer come in for him this summer it would need considering, but otherwise I think we're better off saving our money and utilising him there rather than sinking 40m on Dumfries.

I'm also resigning myself to the likelihood we won't shift 3 of the 4 left backs/wing backs at the club currently to buy an alternative to Chilwell. If this proves to be the case, we'd be better off holding on to Alonso for another season and then letting him leave next summer on a free than sell for a couple of million this summer. If it came down to the other two, I'd genuinely take Kenedy over Emerson.

Get Gvardiol or Fofana and I think we have enough across the back this coming season.

40m for a guy who is sharing playing time with a 32 year old Damian is mad. Wtf do i know.

Not saying you're wrong necessarily, I just feel he would be a better option than what we have. Maybe that's how low the level of our squad is.

I think RLC is a viable option at RWB, I would move for Maxwel Cornet for LWB.

thank fk we did not buy Ake (still might but improbable) Rewatched CS and was completely vindicated. Trent’s goal was virtually 100% on that poor Ake deflection. (A taller or more intelligent defender could have easily blocked that. He also played Nunez and salah onside countless times. What a pathetic excuse of a cb  .
also Haaland had blatant difficulties to play in peeps system. His technical deficiencies were obvious. jury still out

nunez on the other hand wasted a ton of great chances but still scored. Not convinced of him yet but he has age on his side and definitely bought I to Klopps philosophy , doing lots of donkey work and li k up play
