Why not just loan Colwill as a worst case? Not sure why talks about permanent moves have to come up.

The player possibly wants some stability?

It isn't the first time something like this has happened. I hope this turns out to just be smoke & mirrors, though.

Yep. Obviously, a loan would be ideal for us. But from Colwill’s POV he needs to see a direct pathway into our first team in order to feel like he’s got a future here. And with KK in a 4 year deal, Aké and Kimpembe potentially signed who are only in their mid twenties, and Chalobah who’s also a kid he probably sees no path.

Best case scenario for the clubs interests is to loan him to a PL side where he’ll play every week. If he crushes it then we make room for him when Silva goes or we cash in for huge money.

All these dominoes falling in a way that everyone gets what they want except for Chelsea. Raphinha and Dembele at Barca, which probably means De Jong to United. De Ligt to Bayern which probably means Koulibaly to Juve.

Entering this window I felt so calm about our CB search because there were SO many high quality options out there that surely grabbing 2 would be easy for a club as big as Chelsea. Especially knowing our reputation of turning CB’s into top class players. But somehow we’re finding it impossible to get even 1 world class one through the door.

Very difficult to understand.

maybe a bit behind but how is it difficult to understand? I mean to say there were so many high quality options out there? Where have this wealth of top class CBs come from? And even then realistically bar de Ligt and now in turn Koulibaly, what other top CBs are actually attainable/available?

de Ligt, Skinriar, Bastoni and Koulibaly are the only top level CBs I’ve read or seen actually linked/talks made with clubs this summer. Thats 4. Is 4 a lot?

Is Kicker reliable in Germany? Apparently they’re saying Gnabry is closing in on an extension at Bayern.

Wonder what we do if true? Dembele, Raphinha, and Gnabry all off the table. Leão surely way out of the price range we’d pay. Who’s left for that right wing position? I can’t think of anyone off the top of my head that would really excite me.

Bowen, Pedro Neto, Berardi ... Dybala 🤔?

That's never gonna happen. gallaghers strengths lie in the middle of the pitch.

TT is gonna trust emerson and Ake to be backups for Chilly apparently.

Who i would be looking at as lwb backup would be kostic. he is probably one of the best lwb specialists out there

Wingbacks often do venture into the middle of the pitch in this system.

It may sound far fetched but is it any more so than Milner and Delph playing fullback?

Anyone else get the feeling Tuchel is preparing us more for the Champions League instead of the league?

Nop!

Well, who will be Reece James backup?

Tuchel said that he only permit Azpilicuetta departure when we have a replacement for him

He’s setting up a very strong unit that’s good in knockout competitions.

Raphinha out, dembele out Gnabry probably out

so... what you suggest?

these we have to wait for next year

Christopher Nkunku    (2023. due to release clause)
Federico Chiesa  (next summer, due to injury)
Florian Wirtz   (next summer, due to injury)

which leaves (realistic, so no Neymar or CR7 or Saka or perhaps, if he rebounds, Sancho, who then is NOT realistic)

Rafael Leão
Moussa Diaby
Arnaut Danjuma
Mikel Oyarzabal
Jarrod Bowen

then

Carlos Soler (more of a MFer)
Paulo Dybala
Pedro Neto
Domenico Berardi
Kamaldeen Sulemana (stealth next Mane?)
Rayan Cherki
Dominik Szoboszlai  (more of a MFer)
Charles De Ketelaere (more of a MFer)

Mikel oyarzabal would be a real deal here....can't understand why no top club has move for him yet...

yes, he and Carlos Soler are two of the bigger mysteries as to why they have not moved to bigger clubs

same for Sergej Milinković-Savić (and he turns 28yo in February, so this is his last true big window, as next year you will only get him for one full under 30yo season)

Pau Torres, if he doesn't move this summer, will soon join that group

Same for Mikel Merino Real Sociedad, a superb MFer

and

Wilfred Ndidi
Fabián Ruiz
Youri Tielemans
Lorenzo Pellegrini
Rúben Neves
José Gayà
Wilfried Zaha  (too late now, he turns 30yo in 4 months, he shit away his career at Palace)
Domenico Berardi
Houssem Aouar
