I mean with the Euros happening this summer, do people really think Tuchel will have a proper pre-season with the entire squad?

Ah maybe not. Still he will get a pre season of sorts as opposed to having to work around implementing ideas and systems with a game every 3 days. Will be better for us and should see more improvement I would hope.

Lukaku is 28 in 12 days

so he will be 29 before next season ends

£90m for one full year under 30

is not my cuppa

and Lukaku is not like Lewa or Benzema or Drogba or Suarez, not full of guile and a natural scorer

he is a pure physical beast and relies on pace and bursts

with that huge frame, I wager he starts to slow down by 31 or so in large manner

look at Aubameyang at Arse

all pace before

turned 31

boom

now pace is going going soon far gone, as his quality

and he is not lugging around 90-100kgs or so

We signed Filipe Luis aged 28, Fabregas aged 27, David Luiz aged 29, Mendy aged 28, Ziyech aged 27. Silva on a free aged 35.

Someone who is 27/28 will be a good buy as they are in their prime. I would prefer Haaland but its a dream as opposed to a reality I would think.

As long as its the right player who’s signed never mind the age or the fee. This squad needs a bit of experience and killer instinct in the top end of the pitch.

Yeah, but none of those were at top market rates. All of those players were had for reasonable fees that you can swallow over 3-5 years. Kane at £100m+ isn't.

Aye but they weren’t exactly cheap either, throw their wages, agent fees etc on top too. Particularly Luiz, Ziyech and Fabregas who all cost over £30m.

Kane for near or over 100m plus is still gonna be good value for money. He scores 25 goals a season and has now started assisting more too. Plus he’s one of best in his position. And he already plays in the league, speaks the language (well just about) and would come in straight away to hit the ground running. For 4/5 years, the cost will not be that bad and realistically would be a good investment. Same with Lukaku.

The age thing shouldn’t matter regarding his fee because he is quality. I get Haaland would be a better long term investment but at the same time that also gives BVB the chances to demand more as he’s younger. Like with Dembele.

I like Kane a lot but this made me seriously chuckle while eating a pie 🤣

I’d love to hear him trying to say something very quickly like “She sells sea shells down by the seashore” 😂 he’d definitely struggle

I am not disagreeing with any of the pros of Kane. I am just pointing out it is never going to happen as his profile is one that we aren't going to stump up for. If he where £50-£60m then for sure I could see us doing it, but £100m+? No way, not going to happen, it would be completely contrary to everything the club has done in the transfer market post Torres (some could even argue, post Sheva.)

Furthermore, Kane has a dodgy ankle, that isn't going to get any better so where you may expect another 4-5 years out of such a player, his could be a lot less.

Personally, I am so confident we will not sign Harry Kane (unless we can get him for a fee under £60m) that I will give you £10 via PayPal if we sign him for one above that. Feel free to flag this comment.

I still think with Levy being Levy it will be near impossible for us in particular.

The price I do agree with I just meant it would be a good investment though. At 28, given he remains fit he would be a top signing.

His ankles only dodgy because every time he gets close to being back they rush him in too soon. Mourinho did it for the best part of 2 seasons.

Ankle injury seems to be a common thing with Kane, even before Mourinho.

Looks that way but still ultimately hasn’t contributed to a huge amount of missed time by the looks of the stats there. Missed 75 games in nearly 10 seasons. Suppose its food for though but I think if you get 30-35 games your going to get 20-25 goals. Like Costa also, missed a few games here and there but if hes playing 80% of the time you know what your getting.

If we don't get Haaland hope we go into next season with Havertz, Werner and Aguero/Giroud and instead use the money to buy a replacement for Ziyech.

I really thought my days of panicking we are about to resign Lukaku were over.

I really wouldn't worry, he is getting to the age we do not spend big money on. I'd be amazed if we signed either him or Kane. Players like Håland (although he is almost impossible), Silva, Kun and maybe even Ings are more likely imo.

TBF, he has improved under Conte.

But I don't think the signing is going to happen as long as Conte remains at Inter.

Let’s hope that United are stupidly still enamored with Sancho and spunk all their money on him rather than going after Kane or Haaland who would be much better fits. That way we have less competition. United still need a CB as well who will be hugely expensive.

Until it was just mentioned here I didn’t even consider the idea of Tammy + cash as an offer for Kane. But if he gives any indication that he wants out we should definitely try that. His age doesn’t concern me at all. Late 20’s is the perfect age for our current squad and he’d easily give you 4-5 more years of top level play. Look at Giroud.

Of course there’s that small matter of Daniel Levy… 🥶
