Malang Sarr deal would be a very good one. He is free, young, and talented enough to possibly walk in to the starting XI. It's a no brainer in my eyes.

There were talks that he would be loaned out.

Watching Sarr's videos and he looks seriously like a mirror of Koulibaly. Same playing style. Freakishly athletic, covers lots of ground, good passing range, loves a perfectly timed slide tackle.

Looks a great prospect but I have zero clue where he fits here unless not only Tomori goes but also another CB.

That doesn't make sense to me since he is more suited to our playing style than any other CB in this team. He is a ball-playing CB, who is used to playing in a possession-based team. He doesn't struggle to pass the ball forward when the opposition is pressing. If you look at the likes of Zouma, Rudiger etc, all they do is pass the ball sideways or pass it to the keeper and if that doesn't work they'll clear the ball resulting in a loss of possession. With Sarr we wouldn't have that problem anymore.

If we do sign Sarr and he is intended for the first team squad I would say that is almost certainly Tomori out on loan and Zouma sold. My feeling is Zouma will go as both Everton and Spuds need a CB and he will be wanted by both. Could end up with something like £35-£40m. I know most would prefer AC or Rudi gone but we are going to have to start shifting some players soon and he is one of the most saleable. I mean, look at the current first team squad:

GK: Kepa, Willy,

FB: Dave, James, Moses, Baba, Zappa, Alonso, Emerson

CB: Silva, AC, Tomori, Zouma, Sarr, Amapdu

CM: Kante, Jorgi, Gilmour, Barkley, Mount, Drinky, Baka, Kova, RLC, Van Ginkle

AM: CHO, Ziyech, Puli, Havertz

CF: Werner, Giroud, Tammy, Batshit

That's 33 players if everyone signs, it is madness.

The only CB that is half decent in our team in my opinion is Zouma. Christensen and Rudiger are not Chelsea quality at all. Considering that Thiago Silva is joining us and Ampadu is coming back from loan means that we might have to offload atleast two CB's.

Adding Sarr to that list would completely overhaul our defence and cause a healthy competition between Sarr, Zouma and Ampadu for the CB spot next to Thiago Silva.

I know what@Vesper is going to say emoji16.png. He is only 182 cm tall, 1 cm smaller than me, and then she will continue showing her alternatives emoji57.png.

If you go on search option you will see that she spoke about Sarr many, many times.

Yeah, but I do not get it. One minute he is being heavily linked with Barca (pre-Covid) then Covid hits, Barca's finances go to shit and suddenly he is joining the loan army for a stint at Vitesse. I haven't seen him play so I cannot tell, but it seems odd to me that a player that was deemed as one of the best young CB's in France, who is on a free, and had over 100 games for Nice before hitting 22 is going to come here and join the loan army. It doesn't add up.

I haven't seen Sarr play. So I can't say much about him. But just on the loan thing, it would kinda be a kick in the teeth for Tomori, who looks likely to be loaned out, to be loaned out at 23 and then see someone younger come in and immediately take up your spot in the team.

Was just saying a similar thing.

When you put it like that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tomori sold with a buyback like Ake. Maybe Silva and Sarr are being brought as a way to balance the books i.e. stock up on expensive attackers, sell a two of the four CB's that have hardly covered themselves in glory this past season and then get two on frees that are either better or close to the same level.

True I did rate Tomori before Lampard benched him to be honest. He is better than Rudiger and Christensen in my opinion, but one thing he lacks is passing ability. One of Sarr's strenghts is passing and that could be a reason as to why Sarr could break into the starting xi, even though Tomori couldn't at the end of last season.

The word is that the club sees a future for Tomori at the club but just needs to be loaned out. His situation has been a peculiar one though. Played quite a number of games earlier last season and I know he got injured after that but it's like he has just disappeared altogether.

While we would like to sell Rudiger, Christensen and/or Zouma, I don't see that happening this summer. Clubs elsewhere are conservative with their spending because of the pandemic and we still gotta try and get a new GK in. Might also wanna control the number of turnovers in one summer.

TBF, Zouma doesn't have a good passing ability either. Tomori's situation has been a peculiar one. Played quite a number of games earlier last season and I know he got injured after that but it's like he has just disappeared altogether after that.

Fully agree and that's something I couldn't wrap my head around. That's why I think it would be silly to loan out Sarr when he has better qualities than all of them.
