The Tuchel Thread

What worked and helped last season, might not work and help this season. I am preparing myself for that possibility. And all that because of the fucked up first part of the season... And it will be TT who will be facing the issue first hand.

Not really, I think?

Leicester are in 3rd, have a game in hand and we play them later this season. If they win, they go 5 points clear of us.

West Ham, Everton and Spurs each have 2 games in hand and can easily overtake us if they win both.

Just like the last 2 seasons, we're gonna need other teams to fuck up a little bit in the run-in (AGAIN!).

During those 5 games

Leicester - United, City, West Ham

West Ham - United, Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester

Everton - Arsenal, Spurs

Spurs - United, Everton

All four of them are likely to drop points, some guaranteed considering they are facing each other, during our 5 game winnable stretch. We get maximum points, we could find ourselves in a great position before City, Arsenal, and Leicester.

Not sure why Chilwell is even mentioned here when he's not even the point and he also started in the wins at Liverpool and Sheffield United by the way. Plus if I'm getting the chance you mentioned about today right, it was hardly a clear chance for Chilwell to score, was it? Outside of his foot, under a challenge etc.

And if we want to get picky about missing chances from a LWB, then Alonso also missed one very early on against Southampton, a chance that you would expect him to put away but he didn't.

He was mentioned because we were discussing our offensive play and wing backs are big part of it. Apart from front 3, they are our most offensive players.

And absolutely every game under Tuchel can be taken as indicator why Alonso is better for this position. Ben looked frustrating in every game he played in offensive part while Alonso looked natural and fluid.

But the point I'm making is the composition of our front 3 in those games and basically how it affects the way we attack the opposition. You can't have an XI where the attacking players only want to come short for the ball, players who are slow and don't make runs in behind. Otherwise, everything becomes predictable and easy to defend against. You need to have variations.

Alonso being better at WB is hardly a surprise considering he is a WB while Chilwell is a FB being asked to play as a WB. But again, this isn't such a striking issue considering we have won with Chilwell in the starting XI when the front 3 isn't one of those I mentioned previously.

Our pathetic attack and midfield is going to coat us top four. I see Spurs as hot favs now with Liverpool their main threat.

Anyway, we're in real danger of becoming another Arsenal aiming for top four and not aiming for the title.

Screw the top four and start clearing out the mediocre shite that's got us nowhere near a title challenge in recent years and starting with a complete rebuild of our woeful midfield. We will never challenge City with the likes of Jorginho and Kavacic stinking the place out game after game.

North London Derby and it's at the Emirates. Spuds has a poor record at the Emirates.

Problem is Arsenal still mentally collapse facing Mourinho. His record against/hold on them is the one things that's still as strong as it was during his peak.
