As far as I know, it is just a loan like you said. Loan fees are around 3 million Euros, depending on how good the player is. I just think Ornstein got the number wrong. 80 million Euros was said in German media all the time

Maybe but Marina, according to reports, was always reluctant to pay so much upfront. Could have told Leverkusen that Sarr will be loaned to them if the initial fee is reduced and throw onto add-ons instead.

If true, she clearly is a mastermind haha. I am not even so sure why Leverkusen want Sarr in the first place when they have a great CB partnership already built. Maybe LB or as a BU for their CBs.
