chelsea_4_eva 1,182
I know he hasn't been here long but to me he deserves a banner at SB, a true professional and legend of the game. This man oozes class.

Thiago Silva Hopefully I'm being too paranoid but I am a little worried about him now the world cup is over. When he signed he made it pretty clear playing in Qatar was his main driver to keep going so unless he has developed some burning desire to lift the PL (which lets be honest we won't be anywhere near favs to do while he's here) I worry he may finally succumb to father time. I really, really hope I'm wrong.

Plus the CL knockout rounds are still there, so at least for the rest of this season, he should be motivated enough. Vesper 30,175
'Remarkable' talent has been Chelsea's best player throughout 2022 - TCC View https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/analysis/remarkable-talent-has-been-chelseas-best-player-throughout-2022-tcc-view/ With 2022 nearly over, it’s time to pick out the Chelsea player of the year. It’s been a turbulent calendar year for the Blues, losing both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals on penalties to rivals Liverpool. There’s been a change of management at Stamford Bridge as well, with Graham Potter replacing fan favourite Thomas Tuchel back in September. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag across the board from this Blues squad. Some have shone brightly at various points, but it’s obvious by the team’s current positioning of eighth in the Premier League table that there’s plenty to improve on. However, we’ve selected the outstanding candidate for Chelsea’s best-performing individual of 2022. Chelsea player of the year In our view, Thiago Silva is the pick of the bunch in Chelsea colours this season. Now 38, the veteran defender continues to set the standards on and off the pitch around the club. He’s one of the few players in this squad you can bank on to play most games, featuring in 28 of Chelsea’s 32 Premier League matches during the calendar year so far. There’s teammates in the squad that have dazzled in patches. For example, 23-year-old attacking midfielder Mason Mount has been integral in certain moments, especially towards the back end of last season. Also, Reece James is only kept out of this conversation due to his poor luck with injuries this year. When fit, the full-back is the player the side look to for inspiration. Silva is the definition of consistent Silva’s greatest strength has to be to constantly churn out 7/10 or 8/10 performances every single game. Chelsea have clearly lost their defensive steel in 2022, which played a role in Tuchel’s departure. Silva has still been the glue at the heart of defence trying to keep everything together, though. The Brazilian centre-half has to keep playing as long as he feels right in his own body, albeit perhaps Potter should proceed with caution in these immediate games post-World Cup. After all, he’s just finished captaining Brazil out in Qatar. Described as “remarkable” by Martin Keown for his World Cup performances, Silva does go against the grain by delivering such top-class displays with such regularity. It’ll be another privilege if Chelsea get to see him boss things again in 2023. Edited December 25, 2022 by Vesper

Johnnyeye 7,509
one of the best pieces of business this club has done in the past 20 years, top player and professional, just a shame he isn’t younger. We can’t complain, we got a CL, CWC, SC out of him, and could have won a few domestic cups as well. For me he’s in Terry, Cech, Drogba, Lamps, etc legend status for the club even if he’s been here for a short time. He’s Chelsea quality Edited January 24, 2023 by Johnnyeye Artandur, bigbluewillie, Hamilton and 1 other

He’s Chelsea quality That's maybe taking it a little far but he is a legend already that is for sure...having him at our club is an absolute honour. If you ask me, Thiago can just stay here as long as he wants. he is no one to throw a fit if he does not play, so just have him training with the squad, sharing his wisdom is worth millions. We must do everything to keep him at the club even after his retirement, best give him a job as defense coach Johnnyeye and bigbluewillie
Superblue 6,372
Would agree, he's not quite in that top echelon of legends due to the longevity aspect, but he is definitely a Chelsea legend. I mentioned this before but one of the closest players he resembles to be honest is Vialli. Someone that has enjoyed his prime and created a legacy elsewhere and joined here in his twilight years but put every ounce of energy and commitment into making themselves a success here and just embracing the culture and fans of the club. He's the equivalent of footballing royalty and it's easy to say to implement a plan to phase him out but someone actually needs to step up first and consistently play above his level. I'm genuinely unsure if there's a centre back in the league currently that is better than him right now, let alone at Chelsea. With Dias having an off year, and VVD in decline (he never recovered his best on planet form since that bad knee injury) I would say the two best CBs in the EPL have been Thiago and Saliba. Sven Botman and Fabian Schär have been a great pair for NUFC.
OneMoSalah 8,886
Hopefully Todd Boehly & co buy Doc & Marty McFlys DeLorean so we can go back 8-10 years and get a younger Thiago Silva. He has been nothing short of outstanding since being here but I have a real feeling that next season will be his last. Either he will retire or a go for a year back in Brazil. ZAPHOD2319 4,818
Thiago's full statement about his contract negotiation.... I hope he stays to coach when his playing days are over. Quote We are talking about this, probably everything will happen in the next few days. My intention, and the club's as well, is to stay together. I know that the club needs me at this moment. I am here to help, they are young players. I know that, with my experience, I can help in this process of rebuilding the club, I am here for this, willing to do this, but I know that my responsibility is very big. NikkiCFC 8,319
What's crazy about Silva is that when he was free agent in summer 2020 no top clubs went after him. He was very close to Fiorentina and we stepped up in the end.
