robsblubot 3,595
At a home game needing a win against a weak side, I could see Maatsen starting as LB. On an away game, even if Fulham, I'd be fairly certain Cucu (or Colwill) will start on the left, and I can totally understand why; Mudryk is really terrible at defending, so Poch needs a more defensive LB when Mudryk plays. Carney will change that when he's back. Either way, huge loss esp in a stupid carabao game. NikkiCFC 8,319
Normally it would be a big blow but now when Colwill is starting LB which I prefer we should be good. James is couple weeks away plus Badiashile is almost there. Gusto, Cucurella, Maatsen... Plenty of options in defense. Chilwell was not doing good lately. MoroccanBlue 5,382
This would only pose an issue had we stuck with the manager that amplified all our attacking/chance creation through the quality of our wingbacks.
Strike 7,489
He hasn’t been starting and I didn’t see a big clamour for him to be a regular. He’s got a good motor but that can be replaced at left back by Maatsen Cucurella Colwill
milka 3,394
John Terry also started as a LB . Having the same players injured for the 3rd season in a row is boring.
lucio 5,418
unlike james, he isn't good enough to keep around with this kind of injury record, sell
DH1988 1,348
Odd one, he was a good outlet for us before he got injured during Tuchel's reign but sadly I do think he needs to go. Doesn't attack well, doesn't defend well anymore. mkh
Fulham Broadway 17,314
won’t be returning from injury until the start of December at the earliest. That is according to a report from Football.London. Vesper

lucio 5,418
He’s another who should be sent packing. Picking fights with teenagers as our captain , complete embarrassment. Shite player , slow , unimaginative, basically a nothing player who’s just making up the numbers in the Xi , should never have been signed. robsblubot 3,595
I can understand the frustration with him, but let's sign a LB before sending him anywhere first? 😅 Otherwise we will end up with Cuccu and will then have the manager move Colwill back to LB. Epitome of mediocre English players Shocking to see him pick a fight vs a teenager and play the rest of the game on a yellow. He's supposed to be the senior member of this team and he let everyone down yesterday. But I disagree he should never have been signed etc. He literally was the LB in a CL winning team few years ago. TheHulk 2,452
Should've been sold in the summer to City, another bang average Englishman.
lucio 5,418
An absolute must sell. Unforgivable exiling maatsen but giving this nothing player more game time best thing about chilwell is his constant injuries so he doesn’t stink up the whole season

Vesper 30,177
Ben Chilwell included in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5679600/2024/09/13/Chelsea-ben-chilwell-squad/ Ben Chilwell has been included in Chelsea’s 25-man squad for the 2024-25 Premier League season. The England international, 27, was told he was surplus to requirements at the west London club, having not played since the club’s pre-season tour in the summer. Head coach Enzo Maresca had previously said players on the fringes of Chelsea’s squad “will not get any minutes” if they remained at the club beyond the end of the transfer window. Raheem Sterling was also part of that group before completing a loan move to Arsenal last month. However, after failing to find a “solution” before the various deadlines around Europe passed, Chilwell has been included in the 25-man group submitted to the league and will soon return to first-team training with the rest of his team-mates. He trained individually at Cobham on Friday. “We will sit with him and find solutions,” Maresca said. “He is probably going to be back with us (training). We will see. “At the moment, he is not training with us. The reason why he (was) training apart, is because the idea was for him to leave.” GO DEEPER Chelsea fan survey results: Where supporters stand on ownership crisis Chilwell signed for Chelsea from Leicester City in August 2020 for a fee in the region of £50million. He has gone on to make 106 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals. He starred under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel in 2020-21 as Chelsea won the Champions League before an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury the following November restricted him to just 13 games. Persistent hamstring issues hampered him in 2022-23 before another in 2023-24 saw him sidelined for much of the first half of the campaign. He ended last season making just 21 appearances before missing out on a place in England’s squad for the European Championship.
