the last match was an indicator of why he is still useful to the squad. would u want RLC/chalobah coming on in the 80th minute with a man down and a goal lead to protect or would u want mikel?

you are comparing a 28-year-old bench warmer to youngsters without any experience. Obviously I am not saying sell Mikel and use one of those kids instead.

Zouma would have done the same prob better as he tackles better. So, once we get one or two defenders Mikel will get even less playing time (he does not play much under Jose). Aside from that, a number of cheap DMs out there could provide the same cover - some with a bit more intensity and technique.

Once again, our opponents have better players (than Mikel) sitting on their bench IMO.

fair enough that zouma could do the same job but currently we have 6 defenders and zouma is probably our best CB. he should anyways be on pitch.

if you are saying that we should sell mikel and buy someone like moutinho/carvalho. i am on board. but nothing tells me we want to do that.

yes, they do.players but mikel is "useful" to this present squad. i cant say that for the likes of fernando/flamini/arteta who are the other bench player.

Mikel needs to play. We need more defensive solidarity at the minute. Him playing would take an unreal amount of pressure off of Matic, whose own form is suffering because of how badly Fabregas is performing.

Of course he blocked it. We are already 1 senior CM short. Hopefully Romeu and Van Ginkel can have awesome seasons so the club brings them back and then Mikel can leave. I think that's the initial plan the club has also considering both Oriol and Marco are loaned to PL clubs.
