LayZ 201
Hmmm this got me into some logic , why not turn Torres into a CB then ?Rumour has it that Mourinho is looking to sign Didier in the capacity of a CB if Ramos decides to leave.... Jase 43,479
RDM on Mikel...http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/2947054/title/the-manager-speaks-part-oneOne man whose role has altered slightly is John Mikel Obi, an ever-present thus far in the league, who has shared defensive midfield duties with one of Frank Lampard, Ramires and the now departed Raul Meireles. Oriol Romeu has also played there when Mikel hasn't. The Nigerian's good work is rarely highlighted, but he has done enough to earn recognition within the camp.'Over the years he has been almost ever-present, and he has been very important over the back end of last season and this season he started in good form,' Di Matteo says of the 25-year-old. 'We all make mistakes in games and I don't think he gets the credit for the work he does for the team.'It's a thankless task really, and I understand because I played in that role myself a little bit, and it's a role that is important for the team. His team-mates and the management team understand and appreciate it, but maybe the fans are more focused on the more creative players and goalscorers, but that role is vital in our team.'He and the player alongside him have to have a good understanding and communication, so that we always have one of the two behind the ball who is able to provide an outlet for us, to switch play, and also be the first player thinking about if we lose the ball, to be able give organisation in front of the defence.' robdog 2,084
I think many CFC fans have forgotten that Mikel won the Silver Ball in the 05' Youth Cup. Messi won the Gold Boot. For the Super Eagles Mikel is more of an offensive presence. On CFC you have high scorers, Mikel doesn't need to venture up closer to the offensive end. His job is to protect the back 4. I know that for most of you the only thing that matters is how he appears on the FIFA Game series. For me Mikel keeps the simple stupid & helps CFC maintain a balance on the pitch. Clevemayer 764
unfortunatly his critics will hide untill one of his BIG MISTKAES EVERY GAME HE MAKES (which is nowhe made 1 mistake where hewas at fault for the goal against juve all this season to me, at least the only one that was crucial), the only one who (sadly because I really like him) keeps making a fool out of him is Kojo, he always criticises him...I've started to ignore them and everything they write and say about Mikel... as long as he keeps play'n like he does and prolonges his contract Manuf and Stats

didierforever 7,349
hypocrisy everywhere. this player was ridiculed, bashed and not given a 1% chance of surviving before the start of the season but now people r considering him as a god.let me tell u guys nothin much has changed. he is putting as good performances as he did last season (barca matches, the finale), but now his performances are just getting magnified because he and rambo are playing brilliantly together and also because of our style of play. even today we dominated most of the matches like we would dominate any other pl team so all the other team has got is to counter and mikel serves us well in breaking those counters. whereas last season against the same spurs we got our asses kicked and were lucky to get 2 draws. we were under attack most of the time and bound to let goals slip in. so please suddenly dont make mikel a superstar as he always has been the same. It's gone from "Mikel can't play in a possession based side" to "Mikel is actually good". Not much has changed regarding Mikel, just people are finally realising why he's so important to the team. They're seeing this because ironically, we're more possession based now, and that actually brings the best out of Mikel because he is so good under pressure. Reddish-Blue 2,509
Mikel did really well against Spurs. Probably one of his better performances in a Chelsea shirt of recent times.
