Billy Gilmour

Billy should be starting over Mason. He has more talent and will become an absolute beast given the games to grow in. 

Some players you just have to throw into the fire and watch them rise above the flames. 

Billy is one of those players.

Question for those stating Gilmour is better than Mount, what exactly is this based on?

Gilmour's sample size is miniscule, and his best performances came as a Regista. Why are we comparing him to Mount, when the only time Gilmour has played in Mount's position, he looked utterly lost?

Every manager is going to have this problem. Assuming we buy Rice I think Rice-Kante in double pivot and Kai as AM is going to be our lineup but not sure even that would work.

We would use Gallagher and Barkley right now.

Also your talking about balance but yet mention Barkley and Gallagher who are more offensively minded players? Ok Gallagher maybe bit more rounded actually but still.. balance... Barkley? 

He looked good when he came on did Billy but the game was gone, City didnt have any real interest in getting out of third gear. Id like to see him play a bit more frequently though. Not instead of Mount but instead of Kovacic who still lets games pass him by far too easily. Hes really undoing the good work and performances he put in last season.

Billy will play for the U23 today. So basically, we wasted his potential for this season

He's 19.

For example of that great Barca team under Pep that had a load of academy players in only Messi was a regular before 20 while Pedro, Puyol and Valdez didn't even make their debut until they were in their 20's.

Exactly.

People are freaking out over nothing. Yes he could of went on loan but I think he will get minutes with Tuchel.

Games v Liverpool, Everton, Leeds and Atletico Madrid are coming up in the space of 2 weeks and with Mount and Jorginho out of the Atletico game, Tuchel will perhaps try and manage Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho’s minutes as undoubtedly Kovacic and Kante will play v Atletico from the beginning due to Jorginho’s suspension. So we hopefully will see more of Billy.

Also out of the guys Lampard gave debuts to/more prominent roles in the team to, how many were 18/19? Tammy, Reece, Mason and Fikayo weren’t IIRC. Would be panicking more if he was in Abraham’s position or Ruben’s, being 23 or over and missing match day squads or being loaned out at 24 or 25.

Obviously safety first is the main theme of Tuchel's beginning here so we should not expect to see too much of him rn. But his time will come. Against not so physical teams i can totally see him work next to Kovacic. Esp against low blocks he has shown that he is better at playing through the lines than any of our midfielders. I do not htinkhe will have too much of a long term future here tho if we stick with Tuchel
