Has been linked with the England U21s job.

Would be an improvement on Boothroyd but to be honest he has been stealing a living in that job for years. For the players they have, the u21s play absolutely brutal football at times.

Seen in the article “Lampard, a more modern coach” as if that means anything meaningful though..... good old British media. He was anything but a modern coach here he seemed more old school in didnt coach shape by the looks of it and just let the players figure it out in the middle and final thirds.

Interesting interview though, was always too big for him this early in his career and I have no doubts he will eventually bounce back. A club like of a Celtic or Rangers would be a good grounding for him. Plenty of expectations, lower standard domestically and budget wise but definitely the sort of place which could make him as a manager. Every game is a cup final for the opposition and also there is European exposure through CL and Europa.

Tried saying that before we got him but many argued because they were desperate to see Sarri out without fully understanding the comprehension of appointing another novice particularly after how Villas-Boas did here, who again like Frank had prior ties to the club albeit different roles and different levels.

The club inevitably didn’t intend in committing to Sarri towards the end despite the fact we were unbeaten in like 17 of the last 20 games and were starting to look a bit better as a team. Lets not pretend their was any chance the board were going to fight to keep him so the club gambled with Frank which resulted in losing another season and a half to make real progress really (although the youngsters are the only positive out of this as well as the signings we made this summer despite their mixed returns).

Heres hoping TT is here for the long haul. And by long hall, I mean over 18 months. Thats the magic number in management now in terms of spells in charge so lets hope he can get a new deal and keeps building on what he’s already done in a short space od time.

I think he’s the right man and the club should give him a new deal at the end of the season, particularly if he gets a trophy win.

I usually agree that i wouldn't want us to appoint a legend as a manager mainly because they'll have too much pull with the fanbase when things go south as was proved but on this occasion i felt it was worth the shot. With the transfer ban we needed someone a little less selfish with squad building, if Frank turned out to be the next big manager in the process then amazing, if (as it turned out) he couldn't get us back to around the top himself he leaves a top squad for someone that can.

I am surprised a bit he gets another PL job so soon. You can bet he will take some Chelsea players on loan. Conor probably.

His reputation as a player and his nationality will always be in his favor when it comes to getting jobs in the Premier League.

If his playing style at Derby and here is anything to go by, then it could be a trainwreck at Palace considering they have so many old players there and are seemingly stuck in their pragmatic ways. Could end up like Frank de Boer's tenure.

It may actually work out for him as an underdog. For all his greenness he did overarchieve all in all last season it's when the pressure cranked up he crumbled.

It's weird thinking he may be a plucky underdog type manager given he was the total opposite as a player but still.

Hard to be an underdog type of a player when you are the best midfielder of your generation. He was a plucky type in his west ham days tho.

The palace job might be a decent opportunity. After all he started the rebuild with us and did very well integrating younger players. CP are in a similar positon. the difference is that he will neer be that much in the spotlight and under pressure no matter who they buy. Even if they make a couple of 30,40m signings and only just avoid relegation he will not get fired solely for that.

There's no point in being the underdog if he can't get the players to buy into his methods. Palace will no doubt look to get younger players in but their squad will primarily still consist of old, experienced players. Can Lampard get them to move away from the pragmatic style to a more open, expansive style? Can those old, experienced players play the way he wants to? If Lampard is not careful, he could easily run into the same problems that Scolari and AVB ran into here. They tried to change the style but it wasn't successful because the players in the squad then were already so used to playing in a certain way and couldn't change to a different style.

If Frank cannot adjust his gameplay to the abilities of his players, he has no business being a top level manager. I hope his reflection with his time here makes it so he is more in contact with struggling players.
