Friday the 13th.

Decided to watch it again after a long, long time. Didn't even make it to the end though. How that movie is considered a classic in the horror genre I will never understand. And to think that movie scared me to death as a kid haha.

Will watch the second part tonight I think.

I don't get it either. Halloween was ground-breaking as the first real slasher movie and is quite well done for such a small budget. I guess when you consider that Friday the 13th was made for half a million dollars, it's impressive, but I've never thought much of it (and it's not even useful for 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon).

Yeah I thought Halloween was a much better movie. I watched the second part (of Friday the 13th) and thought it was better than the first. But I still like the Halloween series, including Jamie Lee Curtis, a lot more.

I also watched Carrie.. Only the final 20-30 min of the movie can be considered as horror.

If you have seen The Shining, how do you rate that movie?

The Shining is fantastic but I love almost everything Kubrick ever did. It's an odd movie and you have to read the book (like Carrie, a Steven King book) to understand some of what's going on, but the atmosphere is incredible and the performances are amazing (mostly shot on a sound stage in England and Kubrick terrorized Shelly Duvall to get the performance out of her). It's not a straight horror movie but Kubriick never did rely on genres to make his movies. There's always more going on. They're doing a remake of Carrie. I loved the book when I was young. King has such a crazy imagination and the ability to take everyday life, write in well, and then put some sort of crazy twist on it.

Pi

Arronofsky's first film and it's really good albeit very confusing. It's just like all of his others. A person goes a bit insane in a high stress lifestyle. And once again he has knicked a few of his ideas from Japanese animation, though he will never own up to it even with incredible evidence against him.

Thanks for the reply.

Forgot to add that I did like Carrie, just wasn't what I expected it to be. But you're right, it did feel like I missed out on quite a lot by just watching the movie. I'll have a hard time finding the books here in Holland though sadly.

They remade it and its just weird. There are some remakes were you can understand why they've chosen to do it and made it better etc but this one was odd.

Saw the Birds.Crazy film and the fact you see Birds everyday and that its never explained what makes them crazy and the creepy ending always a bit eeek.Wouldnt surprise me if thats remade with some random bits added for no reason

I saw the remake when it just came out a few years back I think and I agree, it wasn't any better. Don't think they care much anyway, as long as they make money.

Skyfall. Best Bond movie i've watched.

Really? Although i am yet to see it but i have been told that it is pretty emotional for a bond movie and there is no use of gadgets and cars as you would expect in a bond film.

One of the reasons it is one of the best 007 movies. More mature and unexpected, less of the same!

I still think "From Russia with Love" and "Casino Royale" are a bit better, but "Skyfall" is definetly one of the best...

Yeah it's obvious there's kind of a shift to a different kind of Bond. Still a very good movie.
