Throwback to Lampard's stint. "Muh physical drill" always ends the same here. I wonder if it's training staff/sports scientists incompetence or our players are just not ironman physical players and shouldn't be forced to transform into such. chelsea_4_eva 1,182
FOR F*CK SAKE. I know he is probably more devastated than us but come on.. how has no one in the medical team not advised him to get the surgery done... it has been recurring for the last 2 seasons.. Yeah have to agree, completely radical fitness regime and approach compared to last year so it will take some prisoners particularly the more fragile players as they adjust to what Poch demands. But think he had this at Southampton also but then the likes of Shaw, Lallana etc all seemed to get into it and kicked on fitness wise. Thor 2,703
Saw him in the recent video of Caceido training for the first time. Was in workout gear and what not, so are we sure the source is reliable for this?
YorkshireBlue 3,277
If this is true and he's injured again then fuck me, I love James to bits but the guy tears like wet paper, we need to seriously look at his and get it right, he's no good been back for 4 games then off again for another 10 it's crazy. A team like Chelsea have the best specialists in the world a phone call away. Having surgery is not a magic switch. It's a more complicated thing, hope we can agree on that. Mhsc 1,097
Man probably has a point. Feel like there might be a little bit of ego in the way Reece is building his body / training. I feel like the club (and Poch) need to take a strong stance with Reece's fitness and put him through a long, slow physio / yoga / whatever routine that keeps him out of intense training and games for however many months is needed, even 6 months if needed. I don't think surgery is the answer - his problems occur all over, what are we going to do repair his whole body under the knife?
SomethingSomething 17
He inded needs to tone down his weight and muscles or he will end up like Micah Richards
Magic Lamps 11,692
You can be flexible and mobile even when you are big. Handball GK Andreas Wolff is 1,98m 110kg pure muscle and gets both legs behind his head and can do deficits center splits etc. Yes muscles tend to shorten from repetitive restricted ROM movements (e.g. running or conventional weight training) but you can reverse this by adding stretches or even better, train weighted mobility drills through a full range of motion. RJ as by this Video indeed has below average hamstring, ankle, hip and shoulder mobility . Those exercises are fairly easy. Every healthy athlete should be able to do them without a problem. I would start prescribing him a full ROM weighted Calisthenics programm with exercises such as kettlebell Cossack squats, Nordic curls, deep knee bends, ATG squats, deficit push ups etc before telling someone to reduce muscle mass which can itself result in injuries. xPetrCechx 13,570
🚨❗️Mauricio Pochettino says Reece James is being assessed day by day following a hamstring injury and insists he will come back stronger. It's not a major issue and the expectation is he will be out for weeks at the moment but won't rush recovery. #CFC (@SJohnsonSport)

It's a blatant lie, very few come back "stronger". If it was true, why not injure every single player in pre-season so they would come back stronger at the start of the season? If surgery is really an option to permanently resolve a niggling issue, he might want to take it though. I doubt the intermittent injuries are doing him any favors.
