Completely agree about Chalobah. I was always impressed when watching him play. Mobile, tall, and quick midfielder, who gives you a bit of flash, and works hard.

I didn't say anything like why did we sell Matic and get Drinkwater in respect to their qualities.  Personally, I think they're pretty similar, which is why I scratch my head.  So, my question was more like what's the point?  Isn't it a bit like selling a Honda Civic, then stressing about trying to find a Toyota Carolla?  Why bother?

I've said numerous times that Bakayoko + Drinkwater >>>  Matic + Chalobah. 

I agree that the narrative that we've sold Matic to buy Drinkwater isn't exactly the correct narrative.  Bakayoko is going to get Matic's minutes which is a better fit for us.  But, for a time, we had both Matic and Bakayoko.  Which is what Conte wanted, apparently.

So, on the other hand, the narrative that Bakayoko is Matic's replacement and Drinkwater is in for Chalobah is true, it's not the full story either.  This assumes that having Bakayoko and Matic wasn't an option.

Now, maybe it wasn't an option.  I'm not too involved in the homegrown status of our squad, I don't know if it absolutely needed to happen.  To go back to a previous analogy, I can understand selling your Civic for a Carolla if you live in a town that will only let you drive a Toyota.  But, if it's not necessary, then what's the point of doing all the work?

I don't think it will be long before you are posting to recognise that Danny D is in fact a better player than Nemanja. I believe that he is better in every aspect of the game. More sound and more agile in possession, not locked out of half a pitch worth of options by chronic one footedness, sharper into the challenge, better stamina. Not a world beater but a Matic beater for sure.

One of us has this wrong. Let's face it, we should both be hoping that it's you. Me being right is good for Chelsea, you being right teaches me a lesson but Chelsea fans everywhere pay the price.

I'm hoping that I'm not right and that Drinkwater is miles better than Matic was for us.  I'd be over the moon to have 2 great CM options on the bench for rotation or for flexibility if we wanted to go with a 3 man CM.

We'll see what happens.

If Chalobah was more than capable of holding his own, why would the club/manager want to loan him out after the sale of Matic? 

The kid has skill but he's better off trying to hone his skill at a mid-table side.

But does that really mean that Drinkwater is any better than him? Let's not forget Drinkwater has been playing for a mid table team in the PL other than the outstanding year hey won the title. I don't see anything in Danny's game than isn't in Chalobah's. Chalobah's age goes against him possibly for a rotation role because young guys wants to play every week but he has already shown in limited game time last season and already for Watford so far this season he is more than good enough to hold his own in the PL.

Lets not forget that in that mid table team there was a kante and in that OUTSTANDING year drinkwater stood side by side with kante, lets not beat around the bush that midfield was SOLID as fuck.

Why? Cesc shouldnt be in first 11 in first place, he wasnt last year and I have no idea why is he this season, unless its due to short bench,  but we already had last years 3:4:3 11 fit, but still played Cesc. 

Been saying for 3 years he isnt the right player, all he can do is that one long pass or two per game which is superb on its own, bur otherwise doesnt contribute to the play at all. The playmaking part, he might be the best at it in this squad but that says more about lack of quality playmakers in Chelsea, not about quality of Cesc.

Good utility player to bring up in second half but nothing more. Last year Conte made the right decision, this year we went back in 2015 season instead of moving on without Cesc in first 11. 

About Drinkwater, as of now its just knee jerk reaction to Cesc being bad and they see Danny as saviour. But we should wait till he actualy plays some games. I can see him having few bad games and same people calling for Cesc to replace Danny lol.
