Wonder who/when/if someone will ever be a captain that comes anywhere near JT?

 

We keep saying that the club will carry on OK if player 'X' leaves. Yeah OK we will but we have lost 3 players that we have got nowhere near even trying to replace (Unless its Diego for Drogs then we haven't replaced Diego lol) And JT / Lamps.

We talk about 'the old guard' so much because nobody has come in to take over from them.

And its what we STILL need. A ST a ACM and a CB - And the others that need upgrading or replacing for various reasons! Never mind we can do it all in the summer!

OH SHIT!!!....................

Its going to be so much fun on here next year!

All those that dont post anymore because of the moaning wont be back any time soon lol It's going to be a whine fest!

Over the past few years I've been trying to pinpoint the source of why Chelsea have become the resilient team of the past decade, overcoming the odds and winning when least expected to.

I think a lot of it stemmed from that mentality Mourinho, JT and Lamps instilled in the squad..Some of it remains, but the magic is starting to wear off.

I don't quite agree with that. I can see why you would think that though, because he has qualities for sure.

But he does silly things, like give away stupid fouls when we are attacking a corner in the opponents box, unnecessarily grappling with opponents. Plus, there was that incident from last year, when he committed that horrendous foul when playing for the national team.

Also, he's a bit of a joker in the dressing room I think. Not that that's a problem, but its not something the team leader would normally be associated with.

Maybe with maturity he can be a groomed as a captain.

For now, I would just keep him as a vice captain. Definitely more vocal than Azpilicueta though...so considering the other options, he would definitely be in serious contention.

So he is getting into a coaching role, but I am sure that he wants to work at this club. What do you think his future role will be at this club? Sporting director? Coach? President of Chelsea? He is a very vocal guy and a leader. He should get an important role. I would prefer something like President or Sporting director  because head coaches get sacked all the time while the other two jobs are more stable. What do you guys think?

What about Cech, Drogba and Frank? Frank seems to be serious about coaching.
