BloodIsBlue 291
If you read just the quotes it looks far more disrespectful than if you watch the whole presser and keep the comments in context. It's was a joke, a cutting one for sure but hell its true in many ways and Wenger as a man can't hide from his track record. Wenger was asking for it when he said 'Mourinho was afraid of failure', that's guaranteed to provoke a response. But did Wenger just try pull a Mourinho on Mourinho by rattling his feathers a bit? When Mou said he doesn't want 8 years it made me a bit sad, I want him for 8 years... I love his attitude in that he wants to earn his next contract.Another thing, where can I get one of those vests Mourinho sometimes wears to the these things? Tomo 21,751
To be fair they haven't had the luxury of spending much in those 8 years. He's done well to keep them where they are to be honest. But their board are just full of stingy businessmen, they have the funds no doubt, they just don't put more in transfers as long as they make tidy profits from the Champions League and ticket sales thank you very much.To some extent maybe, however 8 years without a trophy with some off the players he has had avalible to him is under-achievement, infact go back to pre 2005 when he had the best team in England if not Europe, he should have had Arsenal dominating England if not Europe, instead he was letting United win more than Arsenal while the likes off Deportivo and Inter were coming to Highbury and taking them to the cleaners. Jose or Fergie incharge off Arsenal circa 00-05 and i dread to think what would have happened.
Pizy 18,948
Jesus! When I read the quotes I thought he'd said it smiling in a joking way. He was dead serious there!Fucking love it! We HAVE to back up this kind of arrogance on the pitch, though, or José is gonna hear it big time. Popular Post! The Skipper 20,609 Posted February 14, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 14, 2014 Some Arsenal fans calling Mou a failure because he got "sacked" at Real and in his first stint here. How they despise him as a man and that he's the biggest dick in the PL... It's hilarious. Gotta love how Mou is getting under the skin of these lot. Popular Post! bababoom 4,478 Posted February 14, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 14, 2014 Seems like Wenger comments got to him, Jose wasn't even joking. Not really sure if Wenger struck a nerve.I do find it funny that most of the Arsenal fans who said the exact same thing somehow feel insulted because Mourinho said it... at least Piers Morgan agrees with Jose. Alan Partridge 1,124
Just telling it like it is Wenger failed! All those youngsters were meant to grow into a title winning side, never happened. They sell their best players. They win the Emirates cup though! and apparently 4th in the league is kind of a title according to Wenger...... robsblubot, Muzchap and Barbara

Popular Post! The only place to be 11,313 Posted February 14, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 14, 2014 Wenger might actually be right about a 'fear of failure'. In my experience a lot of winners have a horrific fear of failure and are sometimes labelled 'bad losers'. Wenger's way around this is lowering the standards of a victory by treating top four as a trophy, as he said here.http://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/feb/19/arsene-wenger-arsenal-fourth-placeHe's happy to throw Arsenal's name into the title race because not winning it is not a failure by his standards. He's a 'winner' purely by finishing in the top four, and if you look at their fans' celebrations at Newcastle last season then you'll see how they've been brainwashed into believing that as well. The man is a coward plain and simple, and for him to criticise a WINNER'S fear of failure as if it's a character defect tells you everything you need to know about the man. kellzfresh, bababoom, Bir_CFC and 5 others

He could have spent that ~£110M so much better...

It's a vicious circle really as some say you develop winners by winning.Pretty vicious comments by Jose, even though they are all true. It also somewhat diminishes the importance of the people who have worked along with him - not to mention the clubs.

But their board are just full of stingy businessmen, they have the funds no doubt, they just don't put more in transfers as long as they make tidy profits from the Champions League and ticket sales thank you very much. But if Wenger is so limited at Arsenal, why didn't he leave Arsenal for a bigger club where he could put his own talent as a manager to full test, lift trophies and make history? If he was to leave Arsenal, I'm sure he would be offered a job at some other big club. Why did he stuck to the Arsenal job knowing the club can't or refuses to invest more in his work?Because he lacks ambition and he couldn't care less if he wins trophies or not. He is afraid that he could pull a Moyes, leave Arsenal and watch his career go downhill from there. So it's true, Wenger IS a failure because he is happy to be on the losing side. That said, I do believe Mou went too far on this one. No need to put the old man down about it...
