This is Mourinho in his personal life.

Mourinho as a manager is an arrogant guy. He is used to create antagonism.

Thats why Mourinho is who he is. He is a winner. He does not care about how he achieve his success as long as he is a succesful manager.

He will be a perfecf guy to manage a team like England NT, because one of the teams biggest problems is that they lack ambition, self belief and some kind of arrogance.

You can say you love his character, in general I like the bad guys. But Mourinho is not Mr. Nice Guy. Few people around would describe him as a classy manager.

He's dramatically changed his stance on fashion, makes us look a little unprofessional, especially in the big champions league games, oh well..

Here's a little trick I've developed.

If you look about 4 feet to the right (or left depending on where you're sitting) of the dugout at around 3pm on a Saturday (time may vary), there's occasionally a football match going on. That should take your mind off the pointless sartorial criticism.

And some people place far too much stock in image. At some point you grow up and learn to be comfortable in what enables you to do your job best. Sometimes you might want to wear a suit, sometimes you might be more comfortable in a tracksuit and your mind might be on the task at hand.

That type of comfort with the way you dress and not being beholden to a few people on the internet is generally a sign of maturity and confidence.

I guess Carlo Ancelotti needs to grow up then. I'm sure he'd be far more comfortable in a trucksuit and slippers at his age, but no.. he's a professional, keeps it classy..

There are two sides to this fashion debate. Jose is in a situation no other manager is in or has been in. Carlo, Pep aren't comparable.

From Jose's point of view, image USED to be important. He dressed in suits and put emphasis on fashion. However, at that point in his life he was still selling Mourinho to the world. He's proven himself now, he knows that regardless of what he wears he will be respected the same. He isn't looking for anyone's approval anymore. If he wants to wear track suits, I don't think it matters for his sake.

But the other side, which I don't think any other manager fits into is that Jose is also the face of Chelsea.

Chelsea is a business and Roman's aim is to make Chelsea a global brand and Jose is one of the biggest faces of the Chelsea brand. Jose is a one of a kind manager, who has enough star power to be the face of the club, no other manager has that pull. So from a strictly business point of view he should care about his image, because it's a big part of Chelsea's image. Jose doesn't need to sell himself anymore, but now he's partly responsible for selling Chelsea the brand.

When I think of faces of the club, I think of:

Real - Ronaldo

Barca - Messi

United - Rooney

Arsenal - Ozil/Wenger/...no clear star imo

City - Toure/Aguero

Liverpool - Suarez/Gerrard

Chelsea - Jose Mourinho

At a certain point though people just wear what they want and what they're comfortable in. For some that will be a suit, for others it might be something different. Sometimes people might want to wear a suit one day and a tracksuit another. If you read Steve Jobs' autobiography, you'd know 'for example' that he wore those turtle necks so they'd become iconic, nothing to do with being comfortable. He once refused to wear an oxygen mask because he thought it was ugly and didn't like the design.

And how does that fit with our sponsors Hackett?

Isn't his image linked to our sponsors, the primary one being Adidas. Again there are a lot of marketing factors at play that have nothing to do with this pseudo-psychological assessment.

You might want him in Armani, but he's obliged to wear Hackett and Adidas gear a certain number of times per season in each competition. Was Steve Jobs sponsored by Fruit of the Loom?
