The Mourinho Thread

I hope Jose never leaves. Anybody who complains about his defensive game plan has to consider that our attack hasn't been good since Carlo left.

I think Jose is thinking long term dominance. I'm sure he's going for a "need to learn how to crawl before you walk" approach with this team, trying to get the defensive aspect right, and then find players who can compliment that with quick, direct and swift attack.

Jose, at the beginning of his term said that this is a rebuilding season and not to expect much. If any other manager in the world said that and then got their team to 3rd in the domestic league and the semi final of the greatest football competition in the world, he would either have been offered a new, long term contract or he'd be bought by Man city.

Jose has been given a relatively uneven team to work with. On one side we have the English contingent who consist of experience and strength, but lack youth, speed and style. We have the Brazil boys who have speed, style and fitness but lack consistency and discipline. We have Torres who only seems to score in games we lose, Eto'o who couldn't buy a goal away from home, Ba who would be brilliant if he played with another striker, so technically doesn't fit our system, Shurlle, a player that i think has massive potential but played this season more like a cover player for the other guys on the team who were slacking off and Eden Hazard, who i think has only reached 50% of his actual potential.

Jose can be blamed for fucking up in a few games, but no manager in the world is perfect. Let's not forget only two season ago, Sir Alex bottled the title with only 4 games to go. It was in the bag and his player's let him down. Our players have let us down this year. Not Jose.. I would sell the entire team and keep Jose if that's what he wanted.

Keep the faith boys..

One thing your wrong is that the transition period started after the double from Carlo.

The following season we started to get rid of players and trying to implement youth.

That didn't work so we just bought youth with potential.

So we really been in transition for a couple of years now.

What has not helped is the changing of managers.

Don't forget, we still had Drogba, Malouda in form, Lampard, Ash and Terry IMO in their peak and Anelka who was very underrated at Chelsea.

The current team is way weaker then the one that was given to Carlo and AVB. Let's not forget how well we started 2010-2011. We were knocking in goals for fun. It all went downhill the second Ray Wilkins got sacked. I honestly think Carlo inherited the strongest Chelsea team ever and then AVB fucked it up. Then came Liverpool's secret Agent Benitez who talked us into selling them Sturridge.

We've had some real fucking morons at the helm for years and now that we have the best manager in the world, idiot's are still complaining. Give me one striker like Didi and we win everything this season.

It was also rdm fault because he chose Torres over sturridge!

RDM chose nothing. He was an errand boy following orders and was given no hope in hell of managing Chelsea FC. His job was over before it even started. The way we treated him and the way some fans still treat him is atrocious. The man is a legend in my opinion.

Well rdm was forced to play torres in order to keep his job so we can't really blame him

2 Champions League

1 Uefa Cup

7 Leagues

10 National Cups

That's how we judge a manager, now tell me, is anyone out there have a better CV than José ?

Guardiola? Ancelotti's got a decent CV too if you're going purely based on that.

Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Arbeloa has given an insight into how Jose Mourinho went about imposing his authority when he became Real Madrid coach in summer 2010.

Mourinho's time at Madrid came to a bitter end last year as he ended his final season without a major trophy amid widespread talk of dressing room unrest.

Spain international Arbeloa -- who was, along with Xabi Alonso, said to be one of the players to have retained support the Portuguese -- said the former Inter Milan manager had shaken things up when taking over from Manuel Pellegrini.

"We understood who Mou was one day at preseason," the former Liverpool defender told Spanish magazine Jot Down. "The Spanish players were coming from being the world champions and we joined up in Los Angeles. We played a game there against LA Galaxy and at halftime we were 2-0 down.

"The roars that came out of his mouth -- at everyone. He did not save anyone. We learned very quickly who Mou was. You could not imagine Pellegrini shouting like that at Cristiano [Ronaldo].

"We remembered that talk a lot. He said: 'You do not want to run? No problem for me -- the bench. You neither? No problem for me -- you're out.' It did not matter who it was -- a world champion, or Kaka, or a youth teamer."

By the end of his three years at the Bernabeu, Mourinho's relationship with even his compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe had worsened, but Arbeloa said such dressing-room issues did not affect results on the pitch.

"The relationship of Mou with some teammates had deteriorated significantly," he said. "But we were professional enough not to let that affect us on the pitch. La Liga we lost at the start of the season, but we reached the final of the Copa [del Rey] and the semifinals of the Champions League. That 4-1 [at Dortmund in semifinal first leg] just happened. It was not for managing better or worse."

Hopefully Jose can put together a solid team for next season,

Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Sturridge, Torres ( Then signed Lukaku )

What the hell happened to our attack? Torres, Ba, Eto'o ( Lukaku on loan )

You can really see why we have struggled without good strikers, I am hoping we bring in another face as well as Costa

I think people really overlook the hole Essien has left in our midfield, such a shame injuries ruined him. We now have Matic but Lampard and Mikel might be leaving, the club still has a lot of work to do IMO

That's one big worry...whether we can find another striker like him in this coming transfer window...Even Dzeko the 3rd choice striker at City isn't available..

Didi is a once in a lifetime striker. As a person and as a player, there was nobody like him. He can never be replaced unfortunately.

What happened to our attack? The club put too much faith and gave Torres way too many chances.

I was thinking of Henrique's post the the other day when he remarked how Carlo' team back in 2010-2011 had a truly offensive lineup.

You had the offensive threat of Drogba and Anelka, plus the added goal threat from Malouda (in-form of course) and Lampard. And you have Kalou coming off the bench...

Its probably why our attacking movement was much better, our conversion rate was better...(and yes, the full-backs attack support was better too)...

You look at the top scoring teams season, and you have not just one, but two teams trying to break our scoring record...and both play with at least two forwards in their formation.

I think that's what Mourinho is striving towards, ....to improve the offensive threat from players like Hazard and Schurrle (remember he said he wants him to improve much more next season?) who could perform like second strikers for the team....

its not just about a clever pass from a midfield magician... good attacking movement and goal threat from the supporting players can really do well against a defence that just marks out the lone striker and packs itself with numbers...
