Yeah, it might dent our strikers confidence and stop them from being the free-scoring beasts that they are.

It was a low-risk, high-reward thing to say. Maybe it spurs them on to prove him wrong (like Azpi did when he wasn't playing earlier in the season) or maybe it just hastens their exit in the summer. It's also a devastatingly effective assessment of Falcao's current situation. I'm not his biggest fan but if Jose thinks he's the man for us then it's a nice way to turn his head.

Jose has spent a lot of time downplaying our chances this season and he's right to do so. We don't have a striker and that was evident on Saturday. Without that person to lead the line everything else we do on the pitch can be quite pointless because there's no player up top to keep the defenders honest. You need that threat from a number 9 to occupy the thoughts of the defenders which in turn gives an extra half-yard of space to the likes of Hazard and Willian.

I agree that he shouldn't have loaned out Lukaku, but I honestly don't see the harm in him being realistic about our striking situation. It's almost certainly going to cost us trophies, it's something he tried to address in the summer and what exactly are the ramifications of being honest about Samuel Eto'o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba?

One of them is certainly leaving, one of them is possibly leaving and one of them is out of contract in a few months. Are they going to suddenly get worse? If just one of them looks as those comments and has an attack of pride and competitive spirit then we are better off.

This is just one of those moments that opens up Jose to possible criticism from certain quarters.

Don't know what the big plan for a forward is this summer but it will be a shocker I think with the way José talks about it. If he is already saying that we'll be "favorites" for the title next season then he's obviously very confident that we'll pull of the move. Wouldn't shock me if we got more than one top forward. Also wouldn't totally surprise me if the Lukaku rumors of him being sold were true.

That'll be terrible. Can't imagine that happening. If that case occurs, then we'll have to go all out sell more players and raise 80mil for suarez at all costs.

Apparently he said Eto'o is possibly 35 years old and that he will eventually manage Monaco at the end of his career to prepare for retirement. He also said Falcao needs a team and we need a striker.

Now the Eto'o part is interesting, always make me think twice about signing African players now. It is really hard to spot whether they are their age or lying about it. Then there is the story about that Lazio player who is apparently 17 but looks like 41.
