Who exactly were those 'superstars' he signed?

2004/05: Drogba, Kezman, Ferreira, Carvalho, Tiago, Robben, Nuno Morais (Can't see any superstar names there, a few of them became later in their careers)

2005/06: Essien, SWP, Lassana Diarra, Del Horno, Jarosik (Again, no superstars, Essien arguably became one later in his career)

2006/07: Ballack, Shevchenko, Obi Mikel, Kalou, Boulahrouz, Ashley Cole (Now this is where some serious superstars joined, namely Ballack and Sheva and maybe even Cole could have been somewhat considered one at the time, but reportedly Jose didn't even want them and coincidentally this was the season when everything started going downhill, with superstar additions)

2007/08: Malouda, Tal Ben Haim, Claudio Pizarro (Again, who was a renowned name here? Perhaps only Malouda, but he was far from being a superstar or even world class)

The misconception that Mourinho only signed the biggest names with the reformation transfer budget is just that, a misconception. During the third season the board started capitalizing on newly found success and instantly dug their claws into available big name signings, namely Ballack and Sheva. They were the only genuine superstar names added to squad list during Jose's time and there is general agreement that they weren't even his signings. Some of the players (namely Drogba, Robben, Cole, Essien, Carvalho) became world class and famous under him, but when he signed them, they were basically nobodies.

That's a fair point made manpe.

I didn't mean to come across as saying Mourinho was given 'Superstars' straight away. What I meant to explain was that the talent he was allowed to purchase through Romans extensive resources were held in very high esteem.

Most of these players mentioned: Drogba, Robben, Cole, Essien, Carvalho, Obi Mikel, were all being chased by the top clubs and Roman made it easy for Mourinho to get these players. .

You have to laugh at the 'two heads' Utd fans.......

Well yesterday they were creaming their pants, licking their lips from the prawn sandwiches at the thought of Jose taking over from bacon face?!

Today its, argh he doesn't suit us, not our style, he will fuck off after 2 years, no stability, too much media attention, leave a trail of destruction - blah fucking blah!

You just can't fucking make it up!!! Well I got news for you Scum U fans, let's see if they have the same opinion this time next season when Jose has led us to the title whilst you are struggling for the top 4 - the prawns will be biting them on their chins because their chins have hit the bottom of the sea bed!!!

Have it......... :-)

Spanish Channel 4 : Ronaldo turning to the bench and slams "Foda-se" (Fuck you in Portuguese), To Mourinho.

After a few seconds of confusion, Mourinho asked the assistant coach, "What?" And the last covered his mouth before speaking to him.

Also read that Mou didnt even give a HT team talk in yesterday's game.

I wonder how the constant Mourinho stories would have gone down if Di Matteo was still in charge? Would we be looking forward to it and getting exicted about Jose's potential return or claiming it's not fair on RDM and we should stick with him?

Come on, I think he knows he was being a bit silly.

Very funny though, kept me entertained on this thread rather than who's more of a Chelsea supporter than the other......

Or maybe he was just trying to be controversial to retain his 'Most Controversial Member' title. After all, someone has said recently he was losing his edge.

Has anyone considered how will Mou fit this team?

He plays exclusevely counter attack football. Even with RM, extremely talented team, he couldnt make them offensive team.

So how will Mazacar play in his style? Decent, but with half potential they have now.

Mourinho will also play very rough football I feel. NIce passing football? No way. Unless he will try something new here under Romans project, I think we will make step backwards with him, when speaking about beautiful football, but it will be an efective one.

I can go even that far that if we will play defensive football, and with Mata who has no clue about defending, Mou will bench him or even sell him. If Mata will lack his defensive contribution, he will play bad and Mou could replace him with someone more versatile. Not possible? Think of Casillas. Jusr half year ago, you wouldnt even imagine benching Casillas at Real.

So is Mou realy best option? I hope he can develop same style as Klopp did to Bvb. Effective football, attractive football. I certainly dont see this team playing counter football. Mata realy hates that football and he is so inefective in playmaking (just remember barca or Bayern games we played...)
