The Mourinho Thread

Anyone who still thinks lampard's reputation hasn't been tainted in the eyes of some Chelsea fans is either living in denial or just plain delusional. There's no justifaction for what he did and while his reputation has a legend will remain (nothing can change that), Some (if not most) fans perception of him as a person/character wise is definitely tainted and some will never view lampard the same again. That's for sure.

ADD and short term memory is rampant amongst youth these days, I can sympathize with you.

Strange, three 50+ year old season ticket holders feel that Lampard ruined his Chelsea status this year.

It's not a small minority of fans anymore, rightly so, Imo.

What's funny? I will tell you what I find funny though and that's your abysmal reading comprehension skills

It's simple, before lampard joined City, He was held by most/all in a very high moral regard and esteem, he was viewed as an ambassador of the club and someone who loves and respects the club and its fans enough to never join a rival club under any circumstances as a matter of principle. By joining City, some who saw him as a man of principle and honor were justifiably let down and it's That perception of him, hence " as a Person/character wise" has been tainted but his legacy as a legend which is based on what he achieved at the club remains intact.

Doing something that will hurt the feelings of "loved ones" knowingly like joining a rival club isn't an action or character trait synonymous with honorable people with priniciples. Some things are bigger in life than ambition.

What's funny is the fact that you acknowledge his status as a legend is unquestionable but then go on to say that they will never view him the same ever again. Some say contradiction is the lowest form of intelligence, I agree with it.

And before you go on about someones reading comprehension skills I suggest you get yourself hooked on phonics, in that small paragraph there are about a dozen fragment sentences.

Yes, I understand people are hurt by Frank playing for a rival but that pales in comparison to what he accomplished on the pitch for this club. Why is that so hard to understand? City is a Rival but not anywhere near as big a rivalry as Arsenal, Tottenham, Man Utd, Liverpool... We haven't had any real heated contests, as a matter of fact most of the games go by without any incidence at all.

When its all said and done Frank will be welcomed back to the football club with open arms, as you stated in your first post his status as a legend will remain.

He said some of us will never view Lampard the same again, which is completely true. Otherwise I do not know what's the point of this discussion if we're all in the same side.

Serious question. are you this daft or just intentionally playing stupid because i refuse to believe anyone can be this thick.

Even after i explained the term in bold you still went on foaming in the mouth.

By now anyone with half a brain would have recognised that the comment in bold is referring to lampard the person rather than lampard the legend which are two totally different things.

He remains a legend because there's no way to erase his accomplishment from the club's history i.e our alltime goal scorer, the trophies he's won etc (Lampard the legend) however his decision to join city has made him very unlikeable and made some fans lose respect for him hence lampard the person. Is it so hard a concept to grasp?.

Even those that have been attacking his legacy still recognise his status as a chelsea legend but are simply saying that status now has asterisk next to it. . . .A legend that betrayed his own fans and went back on his words as oppose to a legend like Drogba, a man of integrity and great character who considers the club and its fans in his football decision making process.

But that's not in any shape or form what was being discussed when you jumped in. It was whether he is viewed as a legend in the eyes of Mourinho and the Board and whether or not he will be welcomed back to the club. Go back and read it. How can you attack his legacy? Put an asterisk next to it? HE IS THE GREATEST GOALSCORER THE CLUB HAS EVER SEEN ASIDE FROM MAYBE JIMMY GREAVES! HE'S SCORED MORE GOALS THAN ANYONE HAS EVER SCORED FOR THE CLUB!

So because at the end of his career when he had no use to us at the age of 36, he went to collect a cheque and sit on the City bench now he has an asterisk next to his name? LOL Does Dennis Wise have an asterisk? He played for Milwall who are hated by almost every football supporter in England. Kerry Dixon also played for Milwall, Jimmy Greaves went to star for Tottenham(though I admit he's more of a Spurs legend) John Hollins played for QPR and Arsenal! None of the players I've mentioned even come close to Lampard in terms of club status...

He's 36, we clearly didn't have a need for him, City did because they need homegrown players. He stays in England and collects a fat cheque before he heads off to the glue factory and while it may smart a bit, no true Chelsea supporter will look back at this even 10-15 yrs from now and think he's any less than a legend/hero/classy individual as he was before he signed for NY.

He will be welcomed back to the club with open arms and is a good candidate to sit on the board at some point. It smarts because its new but its a small blip on an illustrious Chelsea career.
