Anyone who still thinks lampard's reputation hasn't been tainted in the eyes of some Chelsea fans is either living in denial or just plain delusional. There's no justifaction for what he did and while his reputation has a legend will remain (nothing can change that), Some (if not most) fans perception of him as a person/character wise is definitely tainted and some will never view lampard the same again. That's for sure.

Strange, three 50+ year old season ticket holders feel that Lampard ruined his Chelsea status this year.

It's simple, before lampard joined City, He was held by most/all in a very high moral regard and esteem, he was viewed as an ambassador of the club and someone who loves and respects the club and its fans enough to never join a rival club under any circumstances as a matter of principle. By joining City, some who saw him as a man of principle and honor were justifiably let down and it's That perception of him, hence " as a Person/character wise" has been tainted but his legacy as a legend which is based on what he achieved at the club remains intact.

Doing something that will hurt the feelings of "loved ones" knowingly like joining a rival club isn't an action or character trait synonymous with honorable people with priniciples. Some things are bigger in life than ambition.

City is a Rival but not anywhere near as big a rivalry as Arsenal, Tottenham, Man Utd, Liverpool... We haven't had any real heated contests, as a matter of fact most of the games go by without any incidence at all.

When its all said and done Frank will be welcomed back to the football club with open arms, as you stated in your first post his status as a legend will remain.

By now anyone with half a brain would have recognised that the comment in bold is referring to lampard the person rather than lampard the legend which are two totally different things.

I'm neutral, but I agree with this. It is personal opinion and no one can change that. Even if I'm the biggest Lampard fans and think what Lampard done by joining our rival was not a big deal at all, I have to respect that there must be some other who might hate him because of that.

And I think it is really pointless and unnecessary thing to insult each other because what they are think is right and others wrong. Can we just accept that?

But that's not in any shape or form what was being discussed when you jumped in. It was whether he is viewed as a legend in the eyes of Mourinho and the Board and whether or not he will be welcomed back to the club. Go back and read it. How can you attack his legacy? Put an asterisk next to it? HE IS THE GREATEST GOALSCORER THE CLUB HAS EVER SEEN ASIDE FROM MAYBE JIMMY GREAVES! HE'S SCORED MORE GOALS THAN ANYONE HAS EVER SCORED FOR THE CLUB!

So because at the end of his career when he had no use to us at the age of 36, he went to collect a cheque and sit on the City bench now he has an asterisk next to his name? LOL Does Dennis Wise have an asterisk? He played for Milwall who are hated by almost every football supporter in England. Kerry Dixon also played for Milwall, Jimmy Greaves went to star for Tottenham(though I admit he's more of a Spurs legend) John Hollins played for QPR and Arsenal! None of the players I've mentioned even come close to Lampard in terms of club status...

He's 36, we clearly didn't have a need for him, City did because they need homegrown players. He stays in England and collects a fat cheque before he heads off to the glue factory and while it may smart a bit, no true Chelsea supporter will look back at this even 10-15 yrs from now and think he's any less than a legend/hero/classy individual as he was before he signed for NY.

He will be welcomed back to the club with open arms and is a good candidate to sit on the board at some point. It smarts because its new but its a small blip on an illustrious Chelsea career.
