José Mourinho, 31 January, 2014:

"We did other things this month, not the striker. I've said that for a couple of months. Nothing in January [for a forward]. Many people don't understand why we didn't do anything but, in the summer, you will understand why we didn't do anything [with the striker in January]".

He gambled and it's fucking paying off.

I remember last year people kept saying why didn't we get the midfielders and strikers we needed in, now it's clear why.

There was no top class players in our price range in that position avalible last summer, so he waited and now we have Matic, Cesc and Costa instead of Guarin and some second rate forward.

The match vs City is the big test. Him vs Kompany. Can't wait to see how he does against one of the best CBs in the world.

His final test imo. If he performs well, he'll have no problems eventually becoming a future Chelsea legend.

it's Kompany who's shitting bricks at the prospect

Should be an amazing duel. Both are absolutely outstanding physically.

Well, I think we should be realistic. Unfortunately he won't score every single match and like even the best strikers in the history of the sport, he will have bad days or days when the ball just won't get in.

I'm not going to look at the City game as a final test. It's yet another match. He's already proved his value, I just hope he continues to score... but we all know he won't score in every single match he plays.

Kompany is the most overrated defender in the world. He's played against genuinely great center backs in training, I'm sure he can handle Kompany
