I thought he was better too personally (not much in it) but they were both excellent and a great pairing.

both - JT and Cesc - are quicker than me... I'm not qualified to answer (I still believe he isn't as slow as you think)

I think Carvalho is one of the best defenders I've seen playing.

Yep for every 15 shit free kicks he scores 1, maybe even worse rate but still for a defender that is pretty good. I doubt if Kompany takes them all season he would score any. Also technique doesn't just refer to free kicks but penalties...etc

That aspect those 2 are the best in the world at, for a defender at top level anyway.
