rambo-mikel looked great against walsall and against porto. u can say that walsall was a pretty nailed on win but so was newcastle. look at what city did to them. hell, look what most of the clubs have done to them. our midfield looked so fluent. why? no cesc. simple as that.

zouma and GC have shown heart. but these are hardly the times when u can say they are impressive. hell, this is hardly the time to judge them. u can put in nesta and maldini right now and they will look average playing alongside iva. remember vidic-rio and how they started declining once evra started getting beaten on 1v1s. and iva is getting beaten 4/5 times a game.

If mourinho had won the Cl last year he still should not get a 4 year deal BC of that. Never been stable in the managerial position. Mourinho will get fired within the next 9 months and it will be damn expensive. And who would buy a soon to be 29 y.o. Ramirez out of a 4 year contract on these outrageous wages? Suarez was a WC player on the peak of his powers, Ramirez is an average cm that has been declining for 3 years now and we want to spend 70k per week on another 4 years of decline? I don't believe any of this criteria has any relevance on what a director of football does. Being a balon d'or winner or not has no bearing on the capability of an individual in regards to this job.

Juventus and Bayern board think differently obviously. These are the clubs who spent much more wisely than us btw.

Of course not every Ballon D'or winner would become a great football director, but these players were not just talented, but also hardworking leaders/directors on the pitch and the teams (national and club) they led were successful both in domestic and international competitions.
